Michael Clarke is a British academic who specialises in defence studies. He was Director of the Royal United Services Institute from 2007 to 2015. [1] During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine,he serves as Sky News' security and defence analyst. [2] [3]
A graduate of Aberystwyth University, [4] Clarke is a former Deputy Vice-principal and Director of Research Development at King's College London,where he remains a visiting professor of Defence Studies. [4]
Between 1990 and 2001,Clarke was the Director of the Centre for Defence Studies. From 2001 to 2005,he was the Director of the International Policy Institute. In 2004 and 2005 he was Head of the School of Social Science and Public Policy at King's College London,where he had been a professor of Defence Studies since 1995. [4]

Her major research expertise is post-Soviet Russian security and defence policy,military reform and civil-military relations. Christopher Coker is a British political scientist and political philosopher who has written extensively on all aspects of war. He was Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE) where he had been teaching since 1982 and retired in 2019. Despite being retired from his professorship,Coker is Director of LSE IDEAS,LSE's foreign policy think tank and continues to be a regular participant or consultant in UK and NATO military education and strategic planning circles. He is also the Director of the Rațiu Forum in Romania. He was a NATO Fellow in 1981. He was a member of Council of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
