Michael Fairman (born February 25, 1934) is an American actor and writer.
He is best known for his various roles during his long career. This includes the role of Nick Szabo on the daytime drama, Ryan's Hope , his recurring role as Department Inspector Knelman on Cagney & Lacey , and the recurring role of Patrick Murphy on the CBS daytime drama, The Young and the Restless .

Fairman was a longtime member of the Church of Scientology. He was featured in several promotional Scientology training films and eventually reached the OT VII level. Fairman left the church in January 2011, around the time he was declared a "Suppressive Person". [1]
Alexander Gordon Jump was an American actor best known for playing Arthur "Big Guy" Carlson in the series WKRP in Cincinnati (1978–1982); he reprised the role in its spinoff The New WKRP in Cincinnati (1991–1993). He also played Chief Tinkler in the sitcom Soap (1977–1978) and Mr. Horton on a two-part episode of the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes (1983). He appeared in Maytag commercials as the "Maytag repairman" from 1989 until he retired in 2003.
