Michael Graziadei is an American actor, known for his role as Daniel Romalotti on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless .

Life and career

Graziadei was born in Germany. He began acting in Germany, on stage, at the age of 5 in a production of The King and I . [1] While at the University of New Hampshire, he also appeared in The Servant of Two Masters and History of the Devil. [1] In 2004, he was cast as Daniel Romalotti, Phyllis Summers' son, in the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless . In 2013 he left from soap for career in primetime television. In 2005 and in 2006, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. [2] [3] In film, Graziadei starred in the films Boogeyman 2 (2007), Into the Blue 2: The Reef (2009), and The Outside (2009).

Graziadei guest-starred in a number of television series, including NCIS , Criminal Minds , 90210 , Castle , CSI: Crime Scene Investigation , and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. . [4] He had a recurring roles on FX's American Horror Story as Travis Wanderley, a young boyfriend of Jessica Lange's character, [5] and on The CW's The Secret Circle . [6] In 2013, after leaving daytime television, Graziadei was cast as a series regular in the ABC drama pilot Westside . [7] The pilot was not picked up for the continuing series. Later, he was cast as the male lead in the Lifetime drama series The Lottery , opposite Marley Shelton. [8] The show was cancelled after one season. [9]

In August 2016, Graziadei reprised his portrayal of Daniel Romalotti on The Young and the Restless for a limited run, in celebration of the soap's 11,000th episode. He also landed recurring roles on the Audience mixed martial arts drama series Kingdom and the Amazon Video historical drama series Good Girls Revolt . [10]

In 2018, Graziadei appeared in episode 3 of the remake of Magnum P.I. ; he played Tara's ex-boyfriend and kidnapper in the episode entitled "The Woman Who Never Died", originally airing on October 8, 2018.

The Young and the Restless is an American television soap opera created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. The show is set in the fictional Genoa City. First broadcast on March 26, 1973, The Young and the Restless was originally broadcast as half-hour episodes, five times a week. The show expanded to one-hour episodes on February 4, 1980. On March 17, 2006, the series began airing previous episodes weeknights on Soapnet until the closure on December 31, 2013, when it moved to TVGN. Nelson continued in the role until 1999, when the character left; upon the character returning in 2000, head writer Kay Alden rehired Stafford. Days of Our Lives is an American television soap opera that aired on the network NBC from 1965 to 2022 and currently streams new episodes on Peacock. The soap is one of the longest-running scripted television programs in the world, airing nearly every weekday since November 8, 1965. The Lottery is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series that aired on Lifetime from July 20 through September 28, 2014. The series was set in a dystopian future when women have stopped having children due to an infertility pandemic. It starred Marley Shelton, Michael Graziadei, Athena Karkanis, David Alpay, Shelley Conn, Yul Vazquez and Martin Donovan.

The 49th Daytime Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), honored the best in U.S. daytime television programming in 2021. The award ceremony was held live on June 24, 2022, at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California. The ceremony was broadcast in the U.S. on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Nominations were announced on Thursday, May 5, 2022.

Episode 11,000 is an episode of The Young and the Restless. It aired on September 1, 2016 on CBS. This special episode was heavily promoted and teased in order to celebrate the soap opera's milestone. The episode featured the return of Tristan Rogers and Michael Graziadei as Colin Atkinson and Daniel Romalotti, respectively, and marked the beginning of Nichelle Nichols's guest stint as Lucinda Winters, the estranged mother of Neil Winters. The episode also featured a cameo from the soap's co-creator, Lee Phillip Bell. The plot revolved around Neil and Lucinda's reunion, the exposure of Phyllis Summers and Billy Abbott's affair and Chloe Mitchell's plan to kill Adam Newman, among other stories. The episode also marked the last appearance of Hartley as Adam, whose departure had not been confirmed beforehand. Michael Fairman from On-Air On-Soaps praised the episode and called it the best episode of the year in American soap operas.
