Michael John Henry Harbison was the Lord Mayor of Adelaide,South Australia from 2003 to 2010. [1] He was succeeded by Stephen Yarwood in 2010. He is also Adelaide's longest serving mayor.
Before becoming Lord Mayor,he was a successful businessman. [2] In the 1980s,after their marriage,Harbison and his wife Kathy Harbison co-purchased Woodroofe,the soft drink factory in Norwood,along with the Hartley family. [3]
Harbison became a Councillor in 1998. [2]
In 2002,Harbison ran as Liberal candidate for the state seat of Adelaide [4] and was defeated by Jane Lomax-Smith. [5]
Harbison drove the semi-trailer for the University of Michigan Solar Car Team in the 2011 World Solar Challenge.[ citation needed ]

Mount Gambier,also known as Berrin,is the second most populated city in South Australia,with an estimated urban population of 29,940 as of 2021. The city is located on the slopes of Mount Gambier,a volcano in the south east of the state,about 450 kilometres (280 mi) south-east of the capital Adelaide and just 17 kilometres (11 mi) from the Victorian border. Jane Diane Lomax-Smith,AM is an Australian politician and histopathologist. She was in Local Government for 9 years,as a councillor for three terms and Lord Mayor of Adelaide for two terms. She was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Adelaide representing the Labor Party from 2002 to 2010,and throughout this time was a Minister of Education and Tourism and a range of other portfolios. In 2010–2011,she was the Interim Director of the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus). Since 2011,she has been the chair of the Board of the South Australian Museum.
The Adelaide Park Lands are the figure-eight of land spanning both banks of the River Torrens between Hackney and Thebarton and separating the City of Adelaide area from the surrounding suburbia of greater metropolitan Adelaide,the capital city of South Australia. They were laid out by Colonel William Light in his design for the city,and originally consisted of 2,300 acres (930 ha) "exclusive of 32 acres (13 ha) for a public cemetery". One copy of Light's plan shows areas for a cemetery and a Post and Telegraph Store on West Tce,a small Government Domain and Barracks on the central part of North Tce,a hospital on East Tce,a Botanical Garden on the River Torrens west of North Adelaide,and a school and a storehouse south-west of North Adelaide.
