Michael Jackson is a British singer who was lead vocalist with the heavy metal band Satan/Pariah. [1]
Jackson was born in Lancaster, Lancashire in 1964 to parents Estelle and Michael Jackson. He was brought up by his mother in Morecambe, Lancashire from an early age. A fanatical Queen fan Jackson dreamed of being a rock singer like his idol Freddie Mercury. Entering the Merchant Navy straight from school he spent five years sailing all over the world while singing with the band Rough Edge between assignments.
Eventually he decided to answer an advertisement, learned the required songs and travelled to London for his audition with the band Satan. After a successful interview at Clink Studios, Tower Bridge, London he moved there to join Satan, replacing Brian Ross.
The first recordings with Satan later became the EP "Into the Future" which was well received by the press, leading to a deal with Steamhammer Records, Germany. In between recordings the band toured Europe, mainly the Netherlands, which culminated in their appearance at the first Dynamo Open Air Festival in 1986. He has fond memories of this festival, especially meeting Angel Witch and Laaz Rocket. Satan were later to tour with Angelwitch in 1987. The first full album, "Suspended Sentence" was released in 1987 and toured Europe with Running Wild to promote it.
At this point, Satan realised they were creating the wrong impression with their band name. During their tour with Running Wild religious groups would gather outside venues burning tour T-shirts. After much deliberation the band decided to change their name to Pariah.
Jackson's next album with Pariah was "The Kindred". It was released in 1987 but Jackson was never a big fan of the songs and always felt they could have produced something better. At this point touring dates dried up and he was feeling a little despondent with the way things were going. Having become friends with the band Sabbat and wanting to keep busy Jackson roadied for Sabbat during their first UK tour along with bandmates Graeme English and Steve Ramsey (who was the tour manager). It was a fun tour and the band realised it was time to write a much more versatile album so began working on what he later came to realise was the best piece of work the band ever produced.
"Blaze of Obscurity" was (like "The Kindred") recorded in Germany and released in 1989 to a KKKKK review in Kerrang magazine and fantastic reviews across publications throughout Europe. Despite the critical acclaim Jackson left the band towards the end of 1989.
Many fans were surprised that Jackson left the band at such a time.
"After the release of "Blaze of Obscurity" I felt the band had produced a truly great album. We toured Germany to promote the album and recorded a live concert that was to be released plus a video for Blaze. At this time we were introduced to Japanese label Metal Mania who confirmed they would not only be releasing "Blaze of Obscurity" but also the band's back catalogue of music in Japan. An American publishing deal was also mentioned and the band were extremely excited about their future. Unfortunately, as time went by it was obvious that, due to the lack of a strong management team, these new avenues for the band were just fading away. A new album was mentioned but I felt it was time to go home to Morecambe to clear my head and make a decision as to what to do next. I decided against returning to the band as the disappointment in the events surrounding Blaze were too much and I felt the record company we were with was just not strong enough. If the record company couldn't break Blaze into the marketplace then what chance would another album make under the same company banner? I have been asked over the years why I left and that's basically it. We made great records yet were still knocking at closed doors. Mike Jackson"
Jackson always loved being part of a band and joined local groups "The All Stars" and "The Minstrels of Power" for a while. Needing to make a living Jackson moved into the cabaret circuit and has spent the last twenty plus years entertaining people throughout Lancashire and the UK as part of a Blues Brothers tribute, DJ, karaoke host and solo act. He is now using his extensive knowledge of the entertainment business to plan events through his company Wibble Promotions and is always interested in new projects for him to contribute to.
Jackson met his wife Sharon in 1990; they married in 1994 and have two children.

Venom are an English heavy metal band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1978. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom's first two albums, Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982), are considered major influences on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. Their second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the black metal genre; as a result, Venom were part of the early wave of the genre, along with Mercyful Fate and Bathory.
Skyclad are a British heavy metal band with heavy folk influences in their music. They are considered one of the pioneers of folk metal. The etymology behind the term "skyclad" comes from a pagan/wiccan term for ritual nudity, in which rituals are performed with the participants metaphorically clad only by the sky, as a sign of equality. The name alludes both to the band's religious leanings and to their social beliefs, as set out in the song "Skyclad" on their first album.
Sonata Arctica is a Finnish power metal band from the town of Kemi, Finland. Created as a hard rock band named Tricky Beans, they later changed to Tricky Means and finally to Sonata Arctica, when they shifted to power metal. The current lineup consists of drummer Tommy Portimo, lead singer Tony Kakko, keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg, guitarist Elias Viljanen and bassist Pasi Kauppinen. All the musicians of the band's history except Portimo also acted as backing vocalists.
Gorgoroth is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. It was formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus, who is the sole original member remaining, and has released nine studio albums. Gorgoroth are a Satanic band and have drawn controversy due to some of their concerts, which have featured impaled sheep heads and mock crucifixions. The band is named after the dead plateau of darkness in the land of Mordor from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings.
Gamma Ray is a German power metal band from Hamburg, founded and fronted by Kai Hansen after his departure from power metal band Helloween, in 1989. He is the band's lead vocalist, guitarist and chief songwriter. Between 1990 and 2014, Gamma Ray recorded eleven studio albums.

Virtual XI is the eleventh studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 23 March 1998. It is the band's second and final album with Blaze Bayley on vocals. It also marks the first album to utilise a slightly modified logo, with the letters R, M, and N the same size as the other letters as opposed to them being extended. This goes on for the next few albums, until The Final Frontier, in 2010.
Black Metal is the second album by English heavy metal band Venom. It was released in November 1982 during the new wave of British heavy metal, and is considered a major influence on the thrash metal, death metal and black metal scenes that emerged in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Sabbat were an English thrash metal band from Nottingham consisting of Martin Walkyier (vocals), Andy Sneap (guitars), Simon Jones (guitars), Frazer Craske (bass) and Simon Negus (drums). They are considered one of the "big four" of British thrash metal along with Acid Reign, Onslaught and Xentrix, who were all responsible for developing and popularizing the country's thrash metal scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Over their initial six-year run Sabbat released three studio albums, four demos, two split singles/compilation albums, two singles and a live VHS. In 1988, the band released their debut album History of a Time to Come, which earned them further recognition. Their next album, Dreamweaver (1989), was also critically acclaimed. Shortly after the release of Mourning Has Broken (1991), tensions with the band began to surface, most of them revolved around money and Sabbat disbanded as a result. After an attempted reunion in 2001 which was blocked by Sneap, the original Sabbat lineup reunited in 2006. In December of that year they performed together for the first time in sixteen years at five different venues in England. One was a warm-up gig in Nottingham, the other four in support of Cradle of Filth. The band has continued to perform live around the world but has not released any new material. In a January 2014 interview with Decibel magazine Andy Sneap confirmed that Sabbat had once again split-up.
Unblack metal is a religious philosophy and subgenre within black metal, inheriting several characteristics of it, such as the melody, the lyrics and the aesthetics, whose artists either directly oppose the Satanism prevalent in most black metal, or promote Christianity in their lyrics and imagery. Unblack metal artists are controversial within the black metal subculture, because black metal's pioneers, especially those of the Second Wave, were anti-Christian. It is also suggested that Christianity contradicts black metal's dark nature and the individualistic and misanthropic ideals of many bands.
Welcome to Hell is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Venom. It was released in December 1981 through Neat Records at the culmination of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. The album was re-released by Sanctuary Records in 2002.

Pariah's Child is the eighth studio album by Finnish power metal band Sonata Arctica. It was released on 28 March 2014 by Nuclear Blast. It is the first Sonata Arctica release with new bassist Pasi Kauppinen, who replaced Marko Paasikoski.
