Michael Derek Jackson (born July 13, 1964) is an American former professional basketball player who played in three NBA seasons for the Sacramento Kings from 1987 to 1990. [1] A 6'2" guard from Georgetown University, Jackson was a member of the 1984 Hoyas team that won the Division I national championship and returned to the Final Four the following year.

Following his college career, Jackson was selected by the New York Knicks in the second round (47th pick overall) of the 1986 NBA draft. In his NBA career, Jackson played in 89 games, scored a total of 188 points, and had 198 assists. He led the Kings in assists in a number of games in the 1987–88 season. [2] He was a member of Georgetown's 1984 National Championship team. After graduating with a degree in sociology in 1986, he was accepted to Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University. Upon retirement, Jackson assumed management positions with the United States Olympic Committee and Turner Sports and served as the president of Yankees–Nets (currently known as YES Network). He worked in a number of executive positions at Nike, Inc, including vice president and general manager of global basketball from 2014 to 2016. [3] [4] [5]

A native of Wisconsin, he played college basketball at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point before being drafted 24th by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1985 NBA draft. In Portland, he played ten seasons with two All-Star Game appearances. Porter spent 17 years in the NBA as a player. Following his retirement as a player in 2002, he began coaching in the league. George Matthew Karl is an American former professional basketball coach and player. After spending five years as a player for the San Antonio Spurs, he became an assistant with the team before being appointed as a head coach in 1980 with the Montana Golden Nuggets of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). Three years later, Karl became one of the youngest National Basketball Association (NBA) head coaches in history when he was named coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers at age 33. By the time his coaching career came to an end in 2016, Karl coached nine different teams in three different leagues, which included being named Coach of the Year three combined times with one championship roster in the FIBA Saporta Cup. He is one of nine coaches in NBA history to have won 1,000 NBA games and was named NBA Coach of the Year for the 2012–13 season. While he never won an NBA championship, Karl made the postseason 22 times with five different teams, which included a trip to the 1996 NBA Finals with the Seattle SuperSonics.

The 1999–2000 NBA season was the Lakers' 52nd season in the National Basketball Association, and 40th season in Los Angeles. It was also the Lakers first season playing in their new arena, the Staples Center, becoming co-tenants with their crosstown rival, the Los Angeles Clippers. During the off-season, the team re-acquired former Lakers forward A.C. Green from the Dallas Mavericks, and signed free agents Ron Harper, Brian Shaw and John Salley. Green won two championships with the Lakers in the 1980s, and Salley won three championships with the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls. More significantly, the Lakers hired former Bulls coach Phil Jackson, who would go on to help the team win five NBA championships over the course of the next 12 years.

The 2000–01 NBA season was the Kings' 52nd season in the National Basketball Association, and 16th season in Sacramento. The Kings received the sixteenth overall pick in the 2000 NBA draft, and selected Turkish basketball star Hedo Türkoğlu. During the off-season, the team acquired shooting guard Doug Christie from the Toronto Raptors, and signed free agent Bobby Jackson.

He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats before being selected fifth overall by the Kings in the 2017 NBA draft. Nicknamed "Swipa", Fox had a breakout season in 2023, as he was selected to his first All-Star Game and All-NBA Team, along with being named the inaugural winner of the Clutch Player of the Year Award en route to leading the Kings to their first postseason berth since 2006.
