Michael Marder is Ikerbasque Research Professor of Philosophy at the University of the Basque Country, Vitoria-Gasteiz. [1] He works in the phenomenological tradition of Continental philosophy, environmental thought, and political philosophy.
Marder studied at universities in Canada and the U.S. He received his PhD in Philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York City. [2] Marder carried out post-doctoral research in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto, and taught at Georgetown University, George Washington University, and St. Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan. [3]
Marder carried out research in phenomenology as an FCT fellow at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. [4] before accepting the Ikerbasque research professorship at the University of the Basque Country. [5]
Marder is an editorial associate of the journal Telos (New York) [6] and an editor of four-book series: Political Theory and Contemporary Philosophy Series, [7] Critical Plant Studies, [8] Future Perfect: Images of the Time to Come in Philosophy, Politics, and Cultural Studies, [9] and Palgrave Studies in Postmetaphysical Thought. Much of his philosophical work has focused on building philosophies that take into account plants as beings with their own form of subjectivity, which has included showing how the field of philosophy, especially the tradition of continental philosophy, has neglected plants or treated them as "other", and how the field has been poorer for it. [11] Dominic Pettman found Marder's book Plant-Thinking to be a work that made a substantial contribution to that nascent field, but also at times too simplistic, for example idealizing the ways that plants co-exist with other beings and not taking into account the ways that plants attack and defend against other beings. Jan Patočka was a Czech philosopher. Having studied in Prague, Paris, Berlin, and Freiburg, he was one of the last pupils of Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger. In Freiburg he also developed a lifelong philosophical friendship with Husserl's assistant Eugen Fink. Patočka worked in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic for almost his entire career, but never joined the Communist Party and was affected by persecution, which ended in his death as a dissident spokesperson of Charter 77.

Tom Rockmore is an American philosopher. Although he denies the usual distinction between philosophy and the history of philosophy, he has strong interests throughout the history of philosophy and defends a constructivist view of epistemology. Edward S. Casey is an American philosopher and university professor. He has published several volumes on phenomenology, philosophical psychology, and the philosophy of space and place. His work is widely cited in contemporary continental philosophy. He is currently distinguished professor emeritus of philosophy at Stony Brook University in New York and distinguished visiting faculty at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Yvanka B. Raynova is a Bulgarian philosopher, feminist, editor, translator, and publisher. She is full professor of contemporary philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and director of the Institute for Axiological Research in Vienna. She elaborated a post-personalist hermeneutic phenomenology based on some gnostic ideas. Her works include studies on continental philosophy, phenomenology, hermeneutics, axiology, feminist philosophy, intercultural philosophy, religious studies, and translation studies.

His book Foucault's Philosophy of Art: A Genealogy of Modernity is one of the first systematic presentations of Michel Foucault's writings on visual art. Tanke is the first scholar to publish a comprehensive critical introduction to the thought of Jacques Rancière.

Richard Dien Winfield is an American philosopher and distinguished research professor of philosophy at the University of Georgia. He has been president of the Society for Systematic Philosophy, the Hegel Society of America, and the Metaphysical Society of America. Winfield was a candidate for U.S. representative from Georgia's 10th congressional district in 2018 and for U.S. Senate during the 2020–21 United States Senate special election in Georgia. In both campaigns, Winfield advocated a federal job guarantee social rights agenda, for which he argues at length in his 2020 book, Democracy Unchained.

He has been a visiting professor at the École pratique des hautes études, Paris and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris. He has been a Fellow at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Tübingen, Heidelberg, and Bonn-Bad Godesberg, Germany, at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, where he worked with Alvin Plantinga, and at the Forschungskolleg Humanwissenschaften in Bad Homburg, Germany.
Drew M. Dalton is an American philosopher and a professor of English at Indiana University. Previously, he was a professor of philosophy at Dominican University. He is known for his works on continental philosophy. Dalton received his Doctor of Philosophy in philosophy from KU Leuven.
