Michael McBroom (born May 16, 1991) is an American swimmer who specializes in long-distance freestyle events. He is a FINA World Championships silver medalist in the 800-meter freestyle and formerly held the American Record in the 800-meter freestyle.

Swimming career

2012

In 2012, McBroom missed out on making the Olympic Team by placing 7th in the 1500-meter freestyle and 8th in the 400-meter freestyle.

2013

At the 2013 Phillips National Championships, which also served as the selection meet for the 2013 World Aquatics Championships, McBroom placed 4th in the 400-meter freestyle, and 2nd in the 800-meter and 1500-meter freestyle, qualifying for the World Championships.

McBroom broke out onto the international stage after capturing the silver medal in the 800-meter freestyle at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships with a time of 7:43.60, breaking the American Record in the process. [1]

Michael Klueh is an American competition swimmer. He is a four-time medalist at the World Championships. He is also an eight-time medalist at the World University Games. Klueh competed for the University of Texas from 2005 to 2009 where he was a 2009 NCAA champion as a member of the 4x200 yard freestyle relay. He is a former American record holder in the 800 short course meter freestyle and former Texas 5A state high school record-holder in the 500-yard freestyle. Klueh is currently an orthopaedic surgery resident at the University of Michigan Medical School.

He ranked No. 16 in the world and was the slowest qualifier for the final race but won Olympic gold with a time of 3:43.36. Hafnaoui was the only Tunisian to win Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.

Lani Pallister is an Australian competitive swimmer. She is a world record holder in two sports, with a world record in swimming, the short course 4×200-metre freestyle relay, and world records in life saving for the youth age group in the 100-metre rescue medley and 200-metre super lifesaver. She holds the Oceanian, Commonwealth, and Australian records in the short course 1500-metre freestyle and the Australian record in the short course 800-metre freestyle. She is the first female World Short Course champion in the 1500-metre freestyle, winning the inaugural event for women at the 2022 edition. Over the course of the 2022 World Short Course Championships, she won the gold medal in each of the four events she contested.
