He is known for his quick and explosive movements with his signature drop shots on court. Watanabe has collected three bronze medals at the World Junior Championships, and also four bronze at the Asian Junior Championships. Watanabe was selected to join the Japanese mixed team compete at the 2017 Sudirman Cup in Gold Coast, Australia, winning a gold medal in the qualification to Gold Coast at the 2017 Asia Mixed Team Championships in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and the team finished in the semi-final round, took the bronze medal. The left-handed Watanabe has won Super 1000 tournaments a total of five times, and was the first ever male player from Japan to win an All England Open title, first at the 2018 All England Open in the mixed doubles event partnered with Arisa Higashino, then in the 2020 All England Open in the men's doubles event with Hiroyuki Endo, and in both men's and mixed doubles in the 2021 All England Open, defending his men's doubles title with Hiroyuki Endo and winning the mixed doubles category with once again, Arisa Higashino. Watanabe won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics, defeating Hong Kong's Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet in the bronze medal match.
David Lindley is an English badminton player and coach. The right-handler, Lindley started playing badminton at aged six, and in the junior event, he becoming boys' doubles U-19 national champion in 1997 and 1998. Lindley junior also won the mixed doubles bronze medal at the 1997 European Junior Championships in Nymburk, Czech Republic.
Robert Adcock is an English badminton player. In 2005, he won the boys' and mixed doubles title at the English National Junior Championships partnered with Edward Foster and Jennifer Wallwork repeating the success with the same partners of the under 17 national championships in 2003. In his under 19 year, he also won the boys' and mixed doubles silver medals at the European Junior Championships. He won bronze medal at the 2006 World University Championships in Wuhan, China, in the mixed doubles event partnered with Hayley Connor. In 2007, Adcock competed at the World Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in the men's doubles event with Robin Middleton, and in 2008, he competed at the European Championships. Adcock who was partnered with Middleton was defeated in the quarter finals round to the 4th seeded German pair Kristof Hopp and Ingo Kindervater in the straight games.
