The Sydney Football Stadium, commercially known as Allianz Stadium and previously Aussie Stadium, was a football stadium in the Moore Park suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Built in 1988 next to the Sydney Cricket Ground, the stadium was Sydney's premier rectangular field venue for rugby league, rugby union and football.
The Gold Coast Chargers were a professional rugby league club which played in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership from 1988 to 1994, the Australian Rugby League premiership from 1995 to 1997, and the National Rugby League premiership in 1998. They first played under the name Gold Coast-Tweed Giants from 1988 to 1989, then Gold Coast Seagulls from 1990 to 1995, very briefly as the Gold Coast Gladiators and finally Gold Coast Chargers from 1996 to 1998.

Robert Fulton, also nicknamed "Bozo", was an Australian international rugby league footballer, coach and later commentator. Fulton played, coached, selected for and has commentated on the game with great success at the highest levels and has been named amongst Australia's greatest rugby league players of the 20th century. As a player Fulton won three premierships with the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles in the 1970s, the last as captain. He represented the Australian national side on thirty-five occasions, seven times as captain. He had a long coaching career at the first grade level, taking Manly to premiership victory in 1987 and 1996. He coached the Australian national team in thirty-nine Tests. He was a New South Wales State selector and a national selector. He was a radio commentator with 2GB at the time of his death in 2021, aged 73. In 1981, he was selected as one of the initial four post-war "Immortals" of the Australian game and, in 2008, he was named in Australia's team of the century.
Scott Sattler is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played during the 1990s and 2000s, later becoming the Football Manager of the Gold Coast Titans. A Queensland State of Origin representative lock, he played his club football for the Gold Coast Chargers from 1992 to 1993 as well as a second spell with the club between 1997 and 1998. He also played for the Eastern Suburbs Roosters in 1994, the South Queensland Crushers between 1995 and 1996, the Penrith Panthers between 1999 and 2003 and one season with the Wests Tigers in 2004. He is the son of former player John Sattler.
Ron Coote AM is an Australian former representative rugby league player whose club career was played with South Sydney and the Eastern Suburbs Roosters, with both of whom he won premierships. He is considered one of the nation's finest footballers of the 20th century. Ron Coote Cup, contested annually by South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters is named in his honour - his entire club career having been played at these two clubs.
Brett Mullins is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s, and early 2000s. A New South Wales State of Origin and Australian international representative back, he played his club football for Australian clubs the Canberra Raiders and Sydney Roosters, and for English club, the Leeds Rhinos. He was described as "one of the most exciting attacking weapons in rugby league."
Benjamin Ikin is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer, and the CEO of the Queensland Rugby League from 22 May 2023. He previously worked in football operations roles for the Brisbane Broncos from June 2021 until May 2023, and had been the host of talk show NRL 360 on Fox League as well as a commentator for the Nine Network and Fox Sports.
Jamie Goddard is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a hooker in the 1990s and 2000s.
Graham Mackay is a former international and state representative rugby league footballer whose club career spanned Ten Australian and English clubs, including Western Suburbs, Penrith, Gold Coast Chargers, Hull FC and the Ipswich Jets in a sixteen-year top grade career. His position of choice was on the wing, though he played centre later in his career.
Brandon Costin is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He initially played under the name Brandon Pearson. He played for the Huddersfield Giants, Canberra Raiders, South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Bradford Bulls and the United States national rugby league team. His position was five-eighth, although he often featured at other positions including centre or lock.
Clinton O'Brien is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. A Queensland State of Origin representative forward, he played club football in Australia for the Sydney Roosters, South Queensland Crushers, Gold Coast Chargers and Newcastle Knights, as well as English club Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. O'Brein represented Queensland in the 1997 State of Origin series.
Craig Weston is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Gold Coast Seagulls, the Eastern Suburbs Roosters and the South Queensland Crushers. He then moved to England, where he played for the Huddersfield Giants, Doncaster and the Widnes Vikings.
Jeff Orford is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for Eastern Suburbs, St. George, Gold Coast Chargers and South Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership. Orford primarily played on the wing.
Des Clark is an Australian former rugby league footballer. A journeyman second-row or prop, he played for the North Sydney Bears, Balmain Tigers, Gold Coast Chargers, Halifax Blue Sox, St. Helens and North Queensland Cowboys during his seven-year career.
Shane Russell is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the Balmain Tigers, Parramatta Eels and Gold Coast Chargers.
Jason Hudson is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Eastern Suburbs, the South Queensland Crushers and the Gold Coast Chargers, as a wing.
Jason Nicol is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played for the Penrith Panthers, Gold Coast Chargers, South Sydney Rabbitohs and the North Queensland Cowboys in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition, ARL and NRL competitions. Nicol also played for the Salford City Reds in England.
Steve Parsons is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for the Gold Coast and North Sydney in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition, ARL and NRL competitions.
Shaun Walliss is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s. He played for Western Suburbs, the Illawarra Steelers and South Sydney in the NSWRL/ARL competition.
