Michel-Henri St-Louis OMM MSC MSM CD is a Canadian Forces officer who holds the rank of major general in the Canadian Army. St-Louis was the acting Commander of the Canadian Army and Chief of the Army Staff in 2021.
St-Louis served as an infantry officer from the Royal 22e Régiment since 1992. [1] He has deployed on missions to Bosnia, Croatia, Afghanistan and the Middle East, and served as Deputy Commanding General for Operations of the U.S. Army's I Corps at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and as Commander of Joint Task Force Impact. [2] [3] He holds three master's degrees focused on war, defence and strategy has also served as Commander of the Canadian Army Doctrine and Training Centre since August 2020. [1]
St-Louis succeeded Major General Derek A. Macaulay as acting Commander of the Canadian Army on April 19, 2021. [2] He assumed the position in an interim capacity while Lieutenant General Wayne Erye acts as Chief of the Defence Staff. St-Louise was subsequently succeeded by Lieutenant General Jocelyn Paul.
On July 13, 2022, St-Louis was appointed to serve as the Defence Attaché to the United States, succeeding Captain William Quinn. [4]

Major-General David Craig Aitchison is a former Canadian military officer, who most recently served as the commander of the Canadian Defence Academy. He is the former Director of Army Staff and Director of Infantry for the Canadian Forces, the former Commandant of the Infantry School, the former Commander of the Combat Training Centre, and former Deputy Commanding General for Operations with US Army Alaska. MGen Aitchison holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick. a master's degree in Defence Studies from the Joint Command and Staff Program at the Canadian Forces College, as well as a master's degree in Military Art and Science from the United States Army School of Advanced Military Studies. Aitchison was promoted to Brigadier General, while serving as Chief of Staff for the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command - Operation INHERENT RESOLVE (CJFLCC-OIR). He was promoted major-general in June 2020 and took command of the Canadian Defense Academy in August 2020.
Marie Annabelle Jennie Carignan is a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) officer who has served as Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) since July 2024. Born in Quebec, she is bilingual and graduated as a military engineer from the CAF’s Royal Military College Saint-Jean. She served as an officer in combat engineering regiments in various Canadian military actions in the 1990s and 2000s including: the Golan Heights; Bosnia; and Afghanistan. As a full colonel, Carignan became Commandant of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean in 2013.
Michael Norman Rouleau is a retired Canadian Forces officer who served as a lieutenant-general in the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command. He was the vice chief of the Defence Staff from July 15, 2020, until June 14, 2021.
General Wayne Donald Eyre, is a retired Canadian Forces officer who served as the chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) from 2021 to 2024. Eyre was named acting CDS on February 24, 2021, and appointed to the full position on November 25, 2021. He was also the commander of the Canadian Army and chief of the Army Staff.
