Michele Ragussis (born November 26, 1969, in Derby, Connecticut) [1] [2] is an American chef. She is best known as a finalist on the eighth season of the Food Network series Food Network Star . [4]

Food Network

Ragussis appeared as a contestant on Chopped in 2010 [5] but was eliminated after the entrée round. She did win an episode of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle in 2011 [6] [7] with her partner Davina Thomasula, but their potential restaurant, Avery Point, never came to fruition. At the time of this appearance, Ragussis and Thomasula owned Stuft Catering in Brooklyn, New York. [7]

Food Network Star

In 2012, Ragussis became a contestant in the eighth season of the Food Network series Food Network Star . [4] She eventually became one of the final four contestants, and she filmed a pilot for a potential series called My New England. [8] [9] She eventually lost the competition to Justin Warner. [6]

In March 2016, [10] it was announced that Ragussis would appear on the Food Network Star spin-off series Comeback Kitchen, which gives eliminated contestants a chance to re-enter the competition for season 12. Comeback Kitchen premiered on May 8, 2016 [10] but the premiere episode became available on demand in April 2016. [11] She was eliminated from the competition on May 22.

Personal life

Ragussis was born to an ItalianGreek family [12] in Derby, Connecticut, [2] [3] but moved to Bristol, Rhode Island, to attend college. [2] [5] [12] Although she has been reported to have been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, [6] [8] she did not move to Brooklyn until after she completed college. [2] Ragussis has two sisters and at one time lived in Rockland, Maine. [2]

Ragussis currently serves as the Executive chef at Central House at The Crown in Provincetown Massachusetts on Commercial St.[ citation needed ] She is a lesbian. [3] [9]

America's Next Great Restaurant is an NBC reality television show featuring contestants pitching restaurant ideas to a panel of judges, where the winner receives financial backing for their restaurant concept. Three locations were opened across the nation — Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and New York—on Monday, May 2, 2011, the day after the May 1 season finale. The judges included chefs Curtis Stone, Bobby Flay, Lorena Garcia, and Chipotle Mexican Grill founder Steve Ells, who were the investors in the winning concept. The production company behind the show was Magical Elves, the same company that produces Top Chef. The show, which has been described as a cross between The Apprentice and Top Chef, premiered on March 6, 2011. The first-season finale aired on Sunday, May 1, 2011, with Jamawn Woods' concept, a soul food restaurant concept called Soul Daddy, judged the winner.

<i>Top Chef Canada</i> Canadian reality television series

Top Chef Canada is a Canadian reality competition television series. The show premiered on April 11, 2011, on Food Network Canada. The first season consisted of 13 episodes, with 16 contestants vying for a grand prize of $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen valued at $30,000. Like the original American series, each week the chef contestants compete against each other in culinary challenges. Contestants are judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notables from the food and wine industry, with one or more contestants being eliminated each week. The Canadian edition uses the same graphics and music as the American version of the program.

The eighth season of the American reality television series Food Network Star premiered Sunday, May 13, 2012 and consisted of 11 episodes.
