Michele Ragussis (born November 26, 1969, in Derby, Connecticut) [1] [2] is an American chef. She is best known as a finalist on the eighth season of the Food Network series Food Network Star . [4]

Food Network

Ragussis appeared as a contestant on Chopped in 2010 [5] but was eliminated after the entrée round. She did win an episode of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle in 2011 [6] [7] with her partner Davina Thomasula, but their potential restaurant, Avery Point, never came to fruition. At the time of this appearance, Ragussis and Thomasula owned Stuft Catering in Brooklyn, New York. [7]

Food Network Star

In 2012, Ragussis became a contestant in the eighth season of the Food Network series Food Network Star . [4] She eventually became one of the final four contestants, and she filmed a pilot for a potential series called My New England. [8] [9] She eventually lost the competition to Justin Warner. [6]

In March 2016, [10] it was announced that Ragussis would appear on the Food Network Star spin-off series Comeback Kitchen, which gives eliminated contestants a chance to re-enter the competition for season 12. Comeback Kitchen premiered on May 8, 2016 [10] but the premiere episode became available on demand in April 2016. [11] She was eliminated from the competition on May 22.

Personal life

Ragussis was born to an Italian–Greek family [12] in Derby, Connecticut, [2] [3] but moved to Bristol, Rhode Island, to attend college. [2] [5] [12] Although she has been reported to have been born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, [6] [8] she did not move to Brooklyn until after she completed college. [2] Ragussis has two sisters and at one time lived in Rockland, Maine. [2]

Ragussis currently serves as the Executive chef at Central House at The Crown in Provincetown Massachusetts on Commercial St.[ citation needed ] She is a lesbian. [3] [9]

<i>Cutthroat Kitchen</i> American television series

Cutthroat Kitchen is an American cooking show hosted by Alton Brown that aired on the Food Network from August 11, 2013 to July 19, 2017. It features four chefs competing in a three-round elimination cooking competition. The contestants face auctions in which they can purchase opportunities to sabotage one another. Each chef is given $25,000 at the start of the show; the person left standing keeps whatever money they have not spent in the auctions. The show ended on its 15th season in July 2017. The series shares some basic elements with other four-chef, three-round elimination-style competitions on Food Network including Chopped and Guy's Grocery Games. Numerous Cutthroat Kitchen contestants have competed on these shows.

The twelfth season of the American reality television series Food Network Star premiered May 22, 2016 on Food Network. Food Network chefs Bobby Flay and Giada de Laurentiis returned to the series as judges.
