The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is a public-private partnership agency and economic development corporation in the U.S. state of Michigan. Operating under the slogan "Pure Michigan", MEDC attempts to encourage the tourism potential of the state and foster business relocations to Michigan. [1]
MEDC is the successor-in-interest of the Michigan Jobs Commission, created in 1993. The commission was translated into the Development Corporation in 1999. Its growth and operations during the following twenty years reflected the urgency of moving away from Michigan's perceived standing as a one-industry state dependent on fluctuating conditions in the motor vehicle industry. A Pure Michigan Byway is the designation for a segment of the State Trunkline Highway System in the US state of Michigan that is a "scenic, recreational, or historic route that is representative of Michigan's natural and cultural heritage." The designation was created with the name Michigan Heritage Route by the state legislature on June 22, 1993, and since then six historic, seven recreational and seven scenic byways have been designated by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and another two have been proposed. These byways have been designated in both the Upper and Lower peninsulas of the state. The current name was adopted on December 30, 2014, and it references the Pure Michigan tourism marketing campaign.

The Marquette Iron Range is a deposit of iron ore located in Marquette County, Michigan in the United States. The towns of Ishpeming and Negaunee developed as a result of mining this deposit. A smaller counterpart of Minnesota's Mesabi Range, this is one of two iron ranges in the Lake Superior basin that are in active production as of 2018. The iron ore of the Marquette Range has been mined continuously from 1847 until the present day. Marquette Iron Range is the deposit's popular and commercial name; it is also known to geologists as the Negaunee Iron Formation.
