Michael McCarthy (born 1949) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Na Piarsaigh and University College Cork, and at various inter-county levels with Cork.
McCarthy first played hurling as a student at the North Monastery in Cork. He lined out in various competitions, including the Harty Cup. [1] McCarthy began his club hurling career with Na Piarsaigh, before later lining out with University College Cork. He captained "college" to the Cork SHC title in 1970, before winning consecutive Fitzgibbon Cup medals. [2]
McCarthy first appeared on the inter-county scene with Cork as a member of the minor team that beat Wexford in the 1967 All-Ireland minor final. [3] [4] He immediately progressed to the under-21 team and won three successive All-Ireland U20HC medals after a defeat of Kilkenny in 1968 and back-to-back defeats of Wexford. [5] McCarthy captained Cork for the second of those three victories.
As a result of his performances for UCC, McCarthy was drafted onto the Cork senior hurling team midway during the 1970–71 National League. [6]
Joseph Deane is an Irish retired hurler who played for East Cork club Killeagh. He played for the Cork senior hurling team for 13 years, during which time he usually lined out as a left corner-forward. Diminutive in size but noted for his deadly accuracy in front of goal, Deane is regarded as one of Cork's all-time greatest and most popular players.
Pat McDonnell is an Irish retired hurler who played as a full-back for the Cork senior team.

Daniel J. Clifford, better known as Donal Clifford, is an Irish former hurler and manager. At club level he played with Cloyne and Glen Rovers and was also a member of the Cork senior hurling team. Regarded as one of Cork's greatest ever underage players, Clifford was the first player to wear protective headgear in a senior inter-county match.
James V. Looney, known as Séamus Looney, was an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with St Finbarr's and University College Cork and was also a member of the Cork senior teams as a dual player. In spite of a brief senior career, he was one of the most decorated players of his generation having won ten All-Ireland medals at various levels between 1967 and 1975.

In spite of a brief senior career, he was one of the most decorated players of his generation having won seven All-Ireland medals at various levels in both codes between 1967 and 1972.
Tadhg Murphy is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Glanmire, Sarsfields and Imokilly and was a member of the Cork senior teams as a dual player. Murphy is best remembered for scoring a last-minute goal to deny Kerry a record ninth successive title in the 1983 Munster final.
