Michael Mellett (born 1945)[ citation needed ] is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for club side Martinstown and at inter-county level with the Meath senior football team. [1] He usually lined out as a left wing-forward.
Mellett first came to sporting prominence as a schoolboy with Trim CBS.[ citation needed ] At club level, he lined out with Martinstown and won a Meath JFC in 1969 and a Meath IFC as part of a Martinstown-Athboy selection in 1979. Mellett first appeared on the inter-county scene as a dual player at minor level in 1963. He was selected for the Meath junior football team in 1966, while also lining out in both codes in the under-21 grade. Mellett was promoted to the senior team for a challenge game against Leitrim and was a member of the extended panel for the 1966 All-Ireland final defeat by Galway. He made the starting fifteen the following year and was at left wing-forward for the defeat of Cork in the 1967 All-Ireland final. [2] Mellett's other honours include three Leinster Championship medals.
Mellett was born Mícheál Ó Méalóid in Connemara, County Galway. He moved to Ráth Chairn in the Meath Gaeltacht as a 10-year-old boy before settling in Dublin in 1973. [3]
Denis Coughlan is an Irish retired hurler, Gaelic footballer and manager who played for Cork Senior Championship clubs Glen Rovers and St. Nicholas'. As a dual player he played for the Cork senior teams for 15 years, during which time he played as a back, a midfielder and a forward. Coughlan is regarded as one of Cork's greatest-ever dual players.

Peter McDermott was an Irish Gaelic football player, coach, administrator and referee. Throughout a club career that spanned over 20 years, he played for several clubs and enjoyed championship success in different grades with Rathfeigh, Donaghmore and Navan O'Mahony's. At inter-county level, he was left corner-forward on the Meath senior football team that won All-Ireland Championship titles in 1949 and 1954 as team captain; he was the first Meath player to win six Leinster Championship medals and also claimed two National League titles. His 51 championship appearances stood as a Meath record for nearly 40 years. As well as club and county successes, McDermott was a regular for Leinster and won three Railway Cup medals.
