Mike Jost (born 17 January 1979 in St. Louis, Missouri) was the drummer for the band Helmet on the 2006 release Monochrome and the subsequent supporting tour. He left the band to attend to his duties as a new father. [1] He was formerly the drummer in St. Louis-based bands Seven, Adair, LucaBrasi and Disturbing the Peace. Mike Jost's brother is Jerry Jost, the guitarist for the St. Louis alternative-ska band, The Urge.

Monochrome is the sixth album by the American alternative metal band Helmet, released in 2006 through Warcon. This is the third Helmet album in a row to be recorded as a three-piece, with new drummer Mike Jost joining veterans Page Hamilton and Chris Traynor. Bassist Jeremy Chatelain, who replaced Frank Bello on the Size Matters tour, rejoined the band for the 2006 Warped Tour in support of Monochrome.

Adair was an American post-hardcore/screamo band from St. Louis, Missouri. The members of the band had performed together in St. Louis for eight years performing under the moniker of Disturbing the Peace before formally changing their name to Adair in 2001. The final five-member band consisted of local St. Louisians; Rob Tweedie as frontman, both Josh Goldenhersh and Patrick Baum on guitar and vocals, Matt Tuttle on drums, and Jeff Meyer on bass guitar. After recording their premiere EP The Permanent Bruise, the band moved to California.

Disturbing the Peace was a nu metal band, based in St. Louis, Missouri. The band released their first album, Planet Nine in the spring of 1998 and their second, titled The New Ice Age, in 2001. The band eventually went on to become the post-hardcore band Adair. On December 27, 2008, the original lineup of Rob Tweedie, Josiah Werner, Mike Jost, Steve Hafner, and Greg Haupt played a reunion show at the House of Rock in St. Louis.

<i>The Permanent Bruise</i> 2004 EP by Adair

The Permanent Bruise is a 6-song EP by the band Adair. It was recorded, mixed and produced by John Pessoni and Jerry Jost in Pessoni's private studio in St. Louis, Missouri. The EP was released in the Spring of 2003. The release concert was held at St. Louis's Mississippi Nights days before the band moved to Westminster, California. The EP received nearly universal acclaim despite being published independently and without any record label capital. In 2005 the band had independently sold over 7,000 copies.
