Mike Keith (born September 11, 1967) [1] is the radio play-by-play voice of the University of Tennessee Tennessee Volunteers football team. [2]
Keith's broadcasting ambitions began at age 7, when his father began taking him to University of Tennessee football and basketball games. While attending elementary school in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Keith was part of a reading program where he participated in a mock newscast. In 1977, his family moved to Franklin, Tennessee, a Nashville suburb. Keith attended high school at Battle Ground Academy in Franklin. He played a wide receiver, punter and defensive back as a member of the school's football team. [3]
After high school, Keith attended the University of Tennessee. Here, he began his broadcasting career as a student and continued after completing school. From 1987 to 1998, Keith worked for John Ward with the Vol Radio Network, a network that covers University of Tennessee athletics. From 1989 to 1998, Keith hosted daily sports talk shows on WIVK, a Knoxville, Tennessee radio station, and he covered University of Tennessee sports in Knoxville for WIVK-FM radio and WBIR-TV television. In 1996, Bud Adams, the owner of the National Football League's Houston Oilers announced he would move his team to Nashville. That same year, while the team was in still in Houston, Keith began hosting a pre-game show for Tennessee stations that carried the Oilers games. He served as the network’s scoreboard host in 1997 before moving into the booth as color analyst in 1998. In 1999, Keith took over the play-by-play duties. [5]
Since taking over the play-by-play role, Keith has consistently announced every Titans touchdown with his signature phrase, "Touchdown Titans!" Keith's most famous call is that of the Music City Miracle, near the end of his first season as play-by-play announcer. The unbelievable play resulted in a last-minute Titans win that kept them alive in the 1999-2000 NFL Playoffs and eventually led the team to Super Bowl XXXIV. [6]
Since 1999, Keith has won the Tennessee Sportscaster of the Year Award twelve times. He hosted the television show Titans All Access, in addition to hosting daily Titans updates on Titans Radio, and hosting the weekly Mike Vrabel Show, a radio show which featured Mike Vrabel as co-host. [7]
Keith is married to his wife Michelle. They have a daughter and a son. He was also the play-by-play radio voice of the Arena Football League's Nashville Kats. He also worked as the public address announcer for Battle Ground Academy’s home football games. Keith's father, Bill, is president of FirstExpress, a truckload carrier company based in Nashville. [8]

As a professional, Wycheck played 11 seasons for the Washington Redskins and the Tennessee Titans, where he threw the lateral pass in the Music City Miracle. He had also spent time as a professional wrestler. Wycheck was the color commentator on the Tennessee Titans Radio Network from 2005 to 2016, and from 2004 to 2017, Wycheck co-hosted a morning sports radio show on Nashville radio station WGFX.

The 2018 Tennessee Titans season was the franchise's 49th season in the National Football League (NFL) and their 59th overall. It also marked the franchise's 22nd season in the state of Tennessee, their first under head coach Mike Vrabel, and the first with new uniforms and blue helmets, as they have worn white helmets since the club was based in Houston, Texas. This season marked the third of four straight in which the Titans finished 9–7. The Titans failed to qualify for the postseason after losing a Week 17 win-and-in contest against their division rival Indianapolis Colts.
The 2020 season was the Tennessee Titans' 51st in the National Football League (NFL), their 61st overall, their 24th in the state of Tennessee, and their third under head coach Mike Vrabel. After starting the season 5–0, their first since the 2008 season, the Titans improved upon their 9–7 season from the previous 4 years and earned their first double-digit winning season and division title since 2008. The Titans finished tied with the Indianapolis Colts for the AFC South division title, but won the tiebreaker based on record vs. division opponents. In the Wild Card Round, the Titans blew a 10–0 lead and were upset by Lamar Jackson's Baltimore Ravens, 20–13. As of 2024, they are the most recent AFC division champion to lose in the Wild Card round.
The 2021 season was the Tennessee Titans' 52nd season in the National Football League (NFL), their 62nd overall, their 25th in the state of Tennessee, and their fourth under head coach Mike Vrabel. After a 34–3 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 17, the Titans clinched the AFC South for the second consecutive season. It would be the first time since 1960–1962 that the franchise would win its division in back-to-back seasons. The Titans finished 12–5, improving on their 11–5 record from the prior year and earning the AFC's No. 1 seed in the playoffs for the first time since 2008. The season ended with a 19–16 loss to eventual AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals, the third consecutive playoff loss.

The 2023 season was the Tennessee Titans' 54th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 64th overall, their 27th in the state of Tennessee and their sixth and final under head coach Mike Vrabel. The Titans attempted to improve upon their underachieving 7–10 record from last year. They also attempted to make it back to the playoffs after missing them for the first time since 2018. However, after a Week 15 loss to the Houston Texans in overtime, they were eliminated from playoff contention for the second year in a row. The following week they were locked to last in the AFC South after losing to the Seattle Seahawks 20–17 in Week 16, and they failed to improve on their 7–10 record from 2022. On January 9, the Titans fired Vrabel.
