Las Cruces is the second-largest city in the U.S. state of New Mexico and the seat of Doña Ana County. As of the 2020 census the population was 111,385. Las Cruces is the largest city in both Doña Ana County and southern New Mexico. The Las Cruces metropolitan area had an estimated population of 213,849 in 2017. It is the principal city of a metropolitan statistical area which encompasses all of Doña Ana County and is part of the larger El Paso–Las Cruces combined statistical area.

Vaughn D. Corley was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts—now known as New Mexico State University—from 1948 to 1950, compiling a record of 9–20. Corley played football and ran track at Texas Technological College—now known as Texas Tech University. He began his coaching career in 1929 at Las Cruces High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Corley moved to New Mexico A&M as an assistant football coach in 1933 and coached the linemen there under head coach Jerry Hines until 1938. He coached the line at the University of Oregon, from 1939 to 1942 and again from 1945 to 1946, and at the University of Arizona in 1947 before returning to Mexico A&M as head coach in 1948. Corley also coached at the Saint Mary's Pre-Flight School during World War II.
Mario Moccia is the current director of athletics for New Mexico State University. He previously served as athletic director for Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 2006 to 2014, as an associate athletic director at the University of Missouri from 1998 to 2006, as an associate athletic director at Southwest Texas State University from 1997 to 1998, and as an assistant athletic director at the University of New Mexico from 1993 to 1997. Moccia attended college at New Mexico State University, where he played on the New Mexico State Aggies baseball team.
Brian Green is an American baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Wichita State Shockers. He played college baseball at Riverside City College, Chapman University, and New Mexico State University between 1991 and 1994. He then served as the head coach of the New Mexico State Aggies (2015–2019) and the Washington State Cougars (2020-2022).
