Mill Creek Recreational Park

Mill Creek Recreational Park is a park facility located in Statesboro, Georgia. A joint project of the city of Statesboro and Bulloch County, the park was designed by the landscape architecture firm of Lose & Associates. [1]

Facility

The park contains a number of sports facilities, including fifteen baseball/softball fields, with dugouts, spectator seating, water fountains, and concessions. [2] [3] Twelve of the fields are lighted. There are also seven soccer/football fields, of which four are lighted. Special events and sporting events are scheduled throughout the year. The 155 acres of parkland has a lake in addition to two playgrounds and a 1.25 mile walking trail. [4] Group gatherings are accommodated at nine picnic pavilions. [2] There are eight public restrooms on the grounds. Admission to the park is free. Adjacent parking facilities are also free. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. [2]

The park is located adjacent to Splash in the Boro.

Splash in the Boro is a water park and family aquatics center located in Statesboro, Georgia. The facility is situated within Mill Creek Regional Park and is operated by the Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department.

The Georgia Southern Equestrian Team (GSUET) is a club sport available to students at Georgia Southern University. The club develops an understanding in equestrian activities and horsemanship and unites collegiate horse owners, riders, and anyone interested in horses. It introduces members to equine activities in the community. Team members who join the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) compete with other IHSA team in horse shows hosted by different barns in the southeast. Individuals and the team compete in Zone 5, Region 3 of the IHSA. Each member takes two lessons a week. The Georgia Southern Equestrian Team students are taught grooming, feeding, and health care skills. All riding disciplines are presented and the facility provides well-trained horses for the riders. The GSUET is funded mostly by its members' team fees. However, each year the team is also allotted a budget from Georgia Southern's CRI. Many of the saddles and other tack used by the team are purchased through CRI. Team members pay for their own riding lessons, riding attire, show clothes, and entry fees for shows.

The Statesboro Regional Public Libraries (STRL) is a public library system that supports the counties of Bulloch, Bryan, Candler, Emanuel, and Evans Georgia. The central library is located in Statesboro, Georgia.

The Statesboro Pilots were a minor league baseball team based in Statesboro, Georgia. From 1952 to 1955, the Pilots played exclusively as members of the Class D level Georgia State League. The Pilots hosted minor league home games at Pilots Field.
