Millhouses is a district of Barnsley in the English county of South Yorkshire.
Millhouses adjoins the town of Darfield near the A635 road to the east of Barnsley itself. The district falls within the Darfield Ward of the MBC.

The Dearne Valley is an area of South Yorkshire, England, along the River Dearne. It encompasses the towns of Wombwell, Wath-upon-Dearne, Swinton, Conisbrough and Mexborough, the large villages of Ardsley, Bolton on Dearne, Goldthorpe, Thurnscoe, Darfield, Stairfoot and Brampton Bierlow, and many other smaller villages and hamlets.

Darfield is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The village is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) east from Barnsley town centre. Darfield had a population of 8,066 at the 2001 UK Census, increasing to 10,685 at the 2011 Census.
Wentworth was a parliamentary constituency in South Yorkshire. Originally created in 1918 and was abolished in 1950, the name was revived when a new constituency was created from 1983 to 2010. Throughout its history, Wentworth was a safe seat for the Labour Party.

Millhouses engine shed was an engine shed in Millhouses, Sheffield. It was built by the Midland Railway in 1901 as Ecclesall engine shed, to serve the Midland Main Line. It was used mainly to stable passenger and mixed-traffic locomotives for use on trains from the nearby Sheffield Midland station. The shed was built next to Millhouses railway station; it had 8 dead end roads, and could handle about forty steam locomotives. Ecclesall shed was renamed Millhouses in 1920. Millhouses bore the shed code 25A, then 19B in 1935 and finally 41C in 1958.

Middlecliffe is a small hamlet in South Yorkshire, England. It straddles the road between Darfield and Great Houghton, close to Barnsley, where Middlecliff Lane joins the B6273 road. The hamlet falls within the Darfield Ward of Barnsley MBC. It is mostly a collection of current and former council houses, small corner shop, a Working Mans Club and a sports ground. Middlecliffe is the birthplace of footballer Wilf Copping, who played for Leeds United, Arsenal and was capped 20 times for England.
Cat Hill Tunnel was a railway tunnel that ran through Darfield, South Yorkshire, England, leading to Darfield railway station. The tunnel was built by George Stephenson for the North Midland Railway opened in 1840. It was 154 yards long and ran under fields into Darfield station from the Cathill Road end of Darfield.

The Lundhill Colliery explosion was a coal mining accident which took place on 19 February 1857 in Wombwell, Yorkshire, UK in which 189 men and boys aged between 10 and 59 died. It is one of the biggest industrial disasters in the country's history and it was caused by a firedamp explosion. It was the first disaster to appear on the front page of the Illustrated London News.
