The Mingbulak oil field is an oil field in the Fergana Valley in Uzbekistan. It was first developed in 1992, but abandoned after a massive oil spill. In 2010 it was scheduled to be exploited by Uzbekneftegaz. [1]

Batken Region is a region (oblus) of Kyrgyzstan. Its capital is Batken. It is bounded on the east by Osh Region, on the south, west and north by Tajikistan, and on the northeast by Uzbekistan. The ruins are about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) to Atakent. Distance to Silifke is 27 kilometres (17 mi) and to Mersin is 77 kilometres (48 mi).
Fergana massacre happened in 1989, after riots broke out between the Meskhetian Turks exiled in Uzbekistan and the native Uzbeks. Hundreds of Meskhetian Turks were killed or injured, nearly 1,000 properties were destroyed and thousands of Meskhetian Turks fled into exile.
