Gerrymandering is a practice intended to establish a political advantage for a particular party or group by manipulating district boundaries. The resulting district is known as a gerrymander ; however, that word is also a verb for the process. The term gerrymandering has negative connotations. Two principal tactics are used in gerrymandering: "cracking" and "packing". A third tactic, shown in the top-left diagram in the graphic to the right, is homogenization of all districts.
A village is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town, with a population ranging from a few hundred to a few thousand. Though villages are often located in rural areas, the term urban village is also applied to certain urban neighborhoods. Villages are normally permanent, with fixed dwellings; however, transient villages can occur. Wayanad is an Indian district in the north-east of Kerala state with headquarters at the municipality of Kalpetta. It is set high on the Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100. The district was formed on 1 November 1980 as the 12th district in Kerala by carving out areas from Kozhikode and Kannur districts. About 885.92 sq.km of area of the district is under forest. Wayanad has three municipal towns—Kalpetta, Mananthavady and Sulthan Bathery. There are many indigenous tribals in this area.

The Marada Movement is a Lebanese political party and a former militia active during the Lebanese civil war named after the legendary Marada warriors of the early Middle Ages that fought on the external edge of the Byzantine Empire. Originally designated the Marada Brigade, the group initially emerged as the personal militia of Suleiman Frangieh, president of Lebanon at the outbreak of the war in 1975. They were also initially known as the Zgharta Liberation Army – ZLA or Armée de Liberation de Zgharta (ALZ) in French, after Frangieh's hometown of Zgharta in northern Lebanon.
Kütahya is a city in western Turkey with 237,804 inhabitants, lying on the Porsuk river, at 969 metres above sea level. It is the capital of Kütahya Province, inhabited by some 564,294 people. Mulukhiyah or mulukhiyyah is the leaves of Corchorus olitorius, commonly known as the Arab's mallow, Nalta jute, or tossa jute. It is used as a vegetable. It is popular in Middle East, East African and North African countries. Mulukhiyah is rather bitter, and when boiled, the resulting liquid is a thick, highly mucilaginous broth; it is often described as "slimy", rather like cooked okra. Mulukhiyah is generally eaten cooked, not raw, and is most frequently turned into a kind of soup or stew, typically bearing the same name as the vegetable in the local language. Traditionally mulukhiyah is cooked with chicken or at least chicken stock for flavor and is served with white rice, accompanied with lemon or lime.
Ahmad Fatfat is a Lebanese politician from Danniyeh, North Lebanon. He was the minister of youth and sports in the cabinet of Prime Minister Fouad Siniora. From February to November 2006 he was the interim interior minister. He is seen as being opposed to Syrian involvement in Lebanon.

Qarsita is a Sunni Muslim village located in the highest mountains of Miniyeh-Danniyeh District in North Lebanon. The name of this village is derived from the two Arabic words "Qar" and "Sita" which mean famous ("sita") for cold ("Qar"). The village is famous for cultivation of pears, apples, peaches and variety of fruits and is one of the first producers of pears and apples in Lebanon. The very cold village, in comparison with surrounded areas, is characterized by its nature scenery and its unique position overlooking the city of Tripoli, the towns of Akkar district and the Syrian coast. Qarsita is one of the rich village in fresh water in Miniyeh-Danniyeh District, it contains thousandth of fresh water sources, the biggest one called Source of Sugar feeds a large number of villages in the area.
Sfira, or Mrah Es-Sfire is a northern Lebanese Sunni Muslim and Maronite Christian village. It is located in Miniyeh-Danniyeh District and bounded on the north by Kfarbnine, on the south by Beit El faqs, on the west by the mountain of Sfira and on the east by the western Lebanese chain.
