Miraj Harshad Barot is a business executive. He was born in India and moved to Uganda with his family when he was 6 years old. He is currently the joint managing director and chief executive officer of Tirupati Group of companies in Uganda. The group ventures include shopping malls, housing estates, apartments, business parks and hospitals.

Background and education

Miraj Barot was born in India in 1988. His father is Harshad Barot, the founder and chairman of Tirupati Group Limited. The family migrated to Uganda, in 1994, when Miraj was still a toddler. He attended schools in Uganda but dropped out early. He began participating in the running of the family business empire, in 2003, at the age of 14 years. [1]

Career

Starting in 2006, Miraj has been intricately involved in running the family businesses. When TGL was formed in 2006, he invested some of personal wealth into the company and served as its first Marketing Director. [2] [3] Later, he served as the co-chief executive officer of TGL. [4] [5] In November 2013, his role became chief executive officer at Tirupati and at two other companies in the expanding family-owned conglomerate. Virat Alloys Limited is a steel manufacturing and metal fabrication company, having acquired the assets and stock of the former Sembule Steel Mills. Miraj Barot was the managing director and chief executive officer of all the two companies. [6]

Family

Miraj Barot is married to Kruti Bharat Rao. The wedding took place on 11 December 2013 in India. When the couple returned to Uganda, they threw a lavish reception at Kampala Serena Hotel, on 10 January 2014, for their upscale friends and associates. [7]

James Mulwana, was a Ugandan businessman. He was the Group chairman and chief executive officer of the Mulwana Groupof Companies, a diverse business conglomerate with interests in dairy farming, plastics, manufacturing, and real estate. From 1992 until his death in 2013, Mulwana served as a non-executive director on the board of directors of Standard Chartered Uganda, the second-largest commercial bank in the country, by assets. From 1998 until 2013, he was the chairman of that board. At the time of his death, he was listed as one of the wealthiest individuals in Uganda.

The Masaka–Bukakata Road is a road in the Central Region of Uganda, connecting the city of Masaka to the lakeside town of Bukakata in Masaka District. As of September 2020, the road surface was gravel, which washed away when it rained, stranding motorists, traders and their merchandise.

James Mugira is a lieutenant general in the Ugandan army. He is the managing director and chief executive officer of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), the business arm of the Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF). He was appointed to that position in April 2015. He concurrently serves as the managing director of Luweero Defence Industries Limited, the small-arms manufacturer owned by the UPDF.
