Miriam Israeli

Miriam Israeli (born 1966), [1] also known as Miri Israeli, is an American-born lyricist and singer of contemporary Jewish religious music. Her biggest hits are "Ima Tagidi Li" ("Mother, Tell Me"), "Yesh Tikvah" ("There Is Hope") (co-written with Ari Goldwag [2] ), and "Tikvah LeYeled" ("Hope for the Child"). She performs internationally for women-only audiences.

Biography

She was born and raised in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, where she graduated from Bais Yaakov Academy High School. [2] After her marriage, she immigrated to Israel and began composing songs for the Song Nights held at the Beth Jacob Jerusalem seminary. It was for one of these events that she composed "Ima Tagidi Li" ("Mother, Tell Me"), which became internationally popular in Jewish girls schools and camps. [2] She also started an after-school choir for English-speaking high school girls. [2]

She released her first album of songs in 1999; however, her songs on this and a subsequent album were recorded by male vocalists per the directive of her Rav. [2] Her songs have been recorded by Benny Friedman, Yaakov Shwekey, [3] Ari Goldwag, [4] [5] and others. She performs her own songs in concert tours for women- and girl-only audiences in the United States, England, and Israel. [2] [6]

She is also a freelance writer and author of a serialized diary, "Music Maker", for Mishpacha magazine.

Personal life

Miriam and her husband have 11 children; they reside in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem. [2]

Professionally trained in voice, he rose to prominence on the Orthodox pop scene with his first album in 2009. Singing mainly in Hebrew, Friedman tours extensively and also appears in music videos. He views his music as a shlichus (outreach) tool, with the goal of drawing Jews closer to Judaism.

Ari Goldwag is an American Orthodox Jewish singer, songwriter, composer, and producer of contemporary Jewish religious music, as well as an author and teacher living in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel. He was a soloist for the Miami Boys Choir at age 10 and starred on five albums and three videos before his voice changed at age 14. He launched a music career after his marriage and move to Israel. He has released seven solo albums, and composes songs and produces albums for other artists.

Yaakov Chesed is an American Jewish rock band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2006, the group won Battle of the Bands competitions at Yeshiva University and Lander College before recording two studio albums, Rise Above (2007) and The Passage (2009). Their name is a quote from the Uva Letzion prayer in Shacharis.

Even Yisrael (neighborhood)

Even Yisrael is a former courtyard neighborhood in Jerusalem, Israel. Built in 1875, it was the sixth Jewish neighborhood to be established outside the Old City walls. It is now part of the Nachlaot neighborhood. In 2004 the neighborhood underwent preservation and renovation by the Jerusalem Municipality, which re-paved and re-landscaped the central courtyard and added a small stone amphitheater for tour groups and daytime passersby.

Eitan Freilich is a British Orthodox Jewish performer and singer from London, England. He achieved international celebrity status in 2016, when his first album, Am Yisrael Chai was released with unprecedented digital and physical sales. Whilst continually performing at Jewish weddings, concerts and other dinner events, Freilich is well known for his high energy, passion and soul he brings to each performance. Since his debut album, Eitan has released several music videos and various singles, most notably the Am Yisrael Chai' music video shot in Israel, 'Lehodos Lecha' released last summer and 'Lo Iyrah - Avidan's Song' released this April 2019 in memory of his son, Avidan. Freilich has been traveling performing at camps and concerts worldwide including Camp HASC, Las Vegas, and even nearer to home, Turnberry - Scotland. Following his sold-out concert with Avraham Fried and Beri Webber last year, Eitan released his second album 'Yavo Shalom', an album which he believes encapsulates the years of hard work and deep learning in song - an album very close to his heart making a splash worldwide.

Shaindel Antelis is an American Orthodox Jewish singer-songwriter and actress. She has released four studio albums and has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Israel.
