Miss Universe 1997 46th Miss Universe

Miss Universe 1997, the 46th Miss Universe pageant, was held on May 16, 1997 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida. Brook Lee of the United States won the competition and was crowned by Alicia Machado of Venezuela. Seventy-four delegates competed in this year.This was the last edition of Miss Universe where the winner was enthroned onstage during the crowning ceremony.

Miss World 1997 47th edition of the Miss World pageant

Miss World 1997, the 47th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 22 November 1997 in Baie Lazare, Seychelles. 86 delegates competed for the coveted crown. At the end of the event, India's Diana Hayden came out victorious. Hayden went on to win the Miss World 1997 pageant at the age of 24 crowned by Miss World 1996, Irene Skliva.

They selected 2 delegates would be elected from each regions. Then they chose a delegate from each region and would get sashed with the name of the region and automatically would be in the Final 6. The first runner up represented the Dominican Republic in Miss América Latina 2008.

The Reina Nacional de Belleza Miss República Dominicana 2006 pageant was held on October 17, 2005. Only 22 candidates competed for the national crown. The chosen winner represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss International 2006 pageant which was held in Tokyo. The first runner up represented the country in Miss Mesoamerica. The second runner up represented the country in Reina Nacional del Café. The third runner up represented the country in Miss Atlantico. The fourth runner up represented the country in Reina Mundial del Banano. The fifth runner up represented the country in Miss Tourism Queen International 2006. The Miss Mundo Dominicana 2004 pageant will be held on October 10, 2004. This year only 20 candidates are competing for the national crown. The chosen winner will represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss World 2004. The delegates used their intro dress to Introduce themselves. After that they each showed their Provincial Costumes. Then they would use their Swimsuit and would get points. Then they would use their Evening Gown and would get points as well. The judges would average them out and then selected a delegate who did the best from their region. They would get sashed by the region they were representing. Then they got questioned in the Top 6. They selected 3 candidate who answered great. The candidate would get a vote from the audience and the judges together and would get the winner from the highest vote. The winner would go to Miss World and become First Runner Up. In this edition, there is 3 candidate for each Dominican Regions.
