The Miss Mundo Dominicana 2005 pageant was held on July 11, 2005. This year only 28 candidates are competing for the national crown. The chosen winner will represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss World 2005.
Miss World 2005, the 55th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 10 December 2005 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China. María Julia Mantilla of Peru crowned her successor Unnur Birna Vilhjálmsdóttir of Iceland. 102 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown. All contestants competed in three "fast track" events, Beach Beauty, Miss Talent, and Beauty With a Purpose contests. The winner of each competition immediately became one of the fifteen pageant semi-finalists.

Duarte is a province of the Dominican Republic. It is named after Juan Pablo Duarte, founder of the Dominican Republic.
San Cristóbal is a province in the southern Dominican Republic, west of the capital Santo Domingo. It was originally named Trujillo after its founder, dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo, taking its present name after his assassination in 1961. It included what is now Monte Plata Province until 1992. The provincial capital is San Cristóbal. The name commemorates a distinguished female soldier in the wars of independence. María Trinidad Sánchez was the first woman incarcerated and executed by Pedro Santana, a Dominican annexionist president.

The chosen winner will represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 2004 pageant which was held in Quito, Ecuador. 16 Provinces, 16 Municipalities and 2 Dominican Communities had entered.

The Miss Mundo Dominicana winner will represent the Dominican Republic in Miss World 2011, the Miss RD Internacional will enter Miss International 2011 Miss Supranational RD will enter Miss Supranational 2012 and the Miss Tourism Queen RD will enter Miss Tourism Queen International 2011. The First Runner Up will enter the Reinado Internacional del Café 2012. The winner will be crowned by Sofinel Báez, Miss International Dominicana 2010.
