The Democratic Left is a social-democratic political party in Ecuador. At the legislative elections, held on 20 October 2002, the party won at least 13 out of 100 seats. Its candidate Rodrigo Borja, who was president of Ecuador from 1988 to 1992, won 14.4% of the vote in the presidential elections of the same day. For the October 2006 elections, it has entered into an alliance with the Ethics and Democracy Network, to support the ticket formed by former Vice-President León Roldós, and Ramiro González, former Prefect of the Pichincha Canton. The Miss Ecuador 2004 pageant was held on March 4, 2004. There were 14 candidates for the national title. Susana Rivadeneira from Pichincha was crowned by Andrea Jácome from Guayas. The winner represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2004.

The Miss Ecuador 2006 was on March 16, 2006. There were 16 candidates for the national title. As Miss Ecuador 2006 was elected Catalina López, she was crowned by Ximena Zamora from Pichincha. The winner represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2006.

The Miss Ecuador 2005 was on March 12, 2005. There were 16 candidates for the national title. The winner was Ximena Zamora from Pichincha who was crowned by Susana Rivadeneira from Pichincha as Miss Ecuador 2005. She represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2005.

Jennifer Stephanie Pazmiño Saldaña is an Ecuadorian-American TV host, radio host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who placed as the second runner-up at Miss Ecuador 2008, representing Guayaquil. As the second runner-up Pazmiño was crowned Miss Ecuador International 2008. She represented Ecuador at Miss International 2008, where she placed Top 12. Two years later Pazmiño was appointed and crowned as Miss Earth Ecuador 2010 by Jose Hidalgo her National Director. Pazmiño represented Ecuador at Miss Earth 2010 she became the first delegate from Ecuador to win the title Miss Earth-Air elemental crown.

Ana Mercedes Galarza Añazco (born September 23, 1989, in Ambato, Tungurahua, Ecuador is a beauty pageant titleholder who was first runner-up in Miss Ecuador 2010.

The Miss Ecuador 2003 was on March 27, 2003. There were 11 candidates for the national title. The previous winner, Isabel Ontaneda from Pichincha, crown her successor, Andrea Jácome from Guayas as Miss Ecuador 2003. She competed at Miss Universe 2003.

Miss Earth 2011, the 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on December 3, 2011 at the University of the Philippines Theater, inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. Nicole Faria of India crowned her successor Olga Álava of Ecuador at the end of the event. The show was aired live by Channel V at 8:00 pm, while Star World broadcast on Sunday, 4 December at 6:00 pm, ABS-CBN and Studio 23 broadcast on the same day at 10:30 pm. There was also a delayed telecast of the show on The Filipino Channel and on the television stations of other participating countries.

The Miss Ecuador 1999 was held on April 16, 1999. There were 19 candidates for the national title; in the end of night Soraya Hogonaga from Pichincha crowned to Carolina Alfonso from Pichincha as Miss Ecuador 1999. The Miss Ecuador competed at Miss Universe 1999.

The winner is the Miss World Ecuador and is the national representative at Miss World in the year she has been chosen, except in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
