The Mississippi Library Commission (MLC) Is the official library agency of Mississippi located in Jackson, Mississippi. It was established in 1926 by an Act of the Mississippi Legislature. [1] It is overseen by a five-member Board of Commissioners. [2]

The MLC maintains statewide databases of online resources, offers statewide networked access to MS public library catalogs, manages the Talking Book Services for print-disabled readers and hosts the WPA County Files from Works Progress Administration programs in the 1930s. [3] MLC publishes two quarterly newsletters, On the Same Page and The Reading Light. [4]

Building

The MLC's headquarters is a 60,000 square foot building built in 2005 that is open to the public. [5] It was awarded the American Architecture Award in 2007. [6]

The pending flag of Mississippi features a white magnolia blossom and the words "In God We Trust" on a red field with a gold-bordered blue pale. This flag was chosen by the Commission to Redesign the Mississippi State Flag and was approved by state referendum on November 3, 2020. It will become the official state flag of the U.S. state of Mississippi once enacted into law by the state legislature. It replaces the previous flag that displayed the Confederate battle insignia in the upper left hand corner, which was retired on June 30, 2020. Once officially adopted, Mississippi will have had three official state flags in its history.

The Mississippi Republican Party is the state affiliate of the United States Republican Party. The party chairman is Frank Bordeaux, and the Party is based in Jackson, Mississippi. The original Republican Party of Mississippi was founded following the American Civil War, the current incarnation of the Mississippi Republican Party was founded in 1956. The party would grow in popularity during the 1960s with wedge issues such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and today the party has the majority in the state.

Vander Veer Botanical Park

The Vander Veer Botanical Park is a 33-acre (130,000 m2) botanical garden in the Vander Veer Park Historic District of Davenport, Iowa. It is believed to be one of the first botanical parks west of the Mississippi River. The park was listed on the Davenport Register of Historic Properties on August 4, 1993.

Hinds County Agricultural High School or Hinds Agricultural High School (HAHS) was a public secondary school in unincorporated Hinds County, Mississippi, United States, south of Utica. It was located on the Utica campus of Hinds Community College until its 2014 closure. Hinds County AHS was one of three independently functioning agricultural high schools in the state of Mississippi.

The various collections housed at the Library Commission are used to serve librarians, state employees, seekers of government information, and visually handicapped Nebraskans. Mississippi Forestry Commission

The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) is a State Agency in Mississippi with headquarters in Jackson. The Forestry Commission was authorized to:

prevent, control, and extinguish forest fires; enforce laws pertaining to the protection of forests and woodlands in the state; and encourage forest and tree planting for the production of a wood crop and other beneficial purposes.

Dan Bishop American politician

James Daniel Bishop is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for North Carolina's 9th congressional district since 2019. He also served in the North Carolina State Senate from 2017 to 2019. A Republican, his district includes south-central Mecklenburg, Union, Anson, Richmond, Scotland, Robeson, Bladen, and Cumberland counties. He previously served in the North Carolina House of Representatives from 2015 to 2017, and the Mecklenburg County Commission from 2005 to 2009.

The Mississippi Arts Commission is an independent agency of the Mississippi state government and serves as the state's official grants-making and arts service agency. The Mississippi Arts Commission provides grant funding to both individual artists and organizations across the state. The agency was established by the Mississippi Legislature in 1968. The founding director, who was appointed by Governor John Bell Williams, was Lida Rogers. The current executive director is Malcolm White.

TRAILS

In Montana, TRAILS is a statewide consortium of academic libraries which includes all 23 of Montana's public, private and tribal community colleges and universities. TRAILS serves over 49,500 students, faculty, researchers and community members, providing access to over 4,000,000 library items. The consortium is expected to save seven million dollars over a five-year period. TRAILS maximizes the return on resource investment, enhances teaching and research, improves the user experience, and encourages shared expertise among members of institutions across the state.

The Colorado State Library is the official State Library of Colorado located in Denver, Colorado. It manages the Colorado Talking Book Library (CTBL), the Colorado State Publications Library (CoSPL), Networking & Resource Sharing (NRS), Library Research Service (LRS) and provides library development opportunities for public and school libraries as well as institutional libraries. It also maintains an archive of information produced by the state government which has over 140,000 documents.
