The Australian Democrats is a centrist political party in Australia. Founded in 1977 from a merger of the Australia Party and the New Liberal Movement,both of which were descended from Liberal Party splinter groups,it was Australia's largest minor party from its formation in 1977 through to 2004 and frequently held the balance of power in the Senate during that time.

Patrick Frederick "Pat" Conlon is a former South Australian politician who represented the Electoral district of Elder in the South Australian House of Assembly as a member of the Labor Party from 1997 to 2014. He was Minister for Transport,Minister for Infrastructure,and Minister for Energy,as well as the Leader of Government Business in the Lower House. Until early 2005,Conlon was also Emergency Services Minister and took part in the government's response to the Eyre Peninsula bushfire in January 2005. Vickie Ann Chapman is a former Australian politician,representing the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Bragg for the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia between the 2002 election and May 2022. Chapman served as the Deputy Premier of South Australia and Attorney-General between 19 March 2018 and 22 November 2021 in the Marshall government. She was the first woman to hold either post.

MacKillop is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was named in 1991 after Sister Mary MacKillop who served the local area,and later became the first Australian to be canonised as a Roman Catholic saint. MacKillop is a 25,313 km²rural electorate in the south-east of the state,stretching south and west from the mouth of the Murray River to the Victorian State border,but excluding the far-southern point of the state,. Martin Leslie James Hamilton-Smith is a former Australian politician who represented the South Australian House of Assembly seat of Waite from the 1997 election until his retirement in 2018. First elected as a candidate for the Liberal Party,Hamilton-Smith was the state parliamentary leader of the Liberal Party and the Leader of the Opposition in South Australia from 2007 to 2009,and a Minister in the Kerin Liberal government from 2001 to 2002.
Isobel Mary Redmond is a former Australian politician who was the member for the electoral district of Heysen in the House of Assembly from 2002 to 2018. She was the parliamentary leader of the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia and the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament of South Australia between 2009 and 2013,and was the first female leader of a South Australian state major party. Under Redmond,the Liberals won 18 of 47 seats in the South Australian House of Assembly at the 2010 election,a gain of three from the 2006 election. She resigned as leader of the Liberal Party on 31 January 2013.

The 2015 Prince Edward Island general election was held May 4,2015,to elect members of the 65th General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. Under amendments passed by the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in 2008,Prince Edward Island elections are usually held on the first Monday of October in the fourth calendar year,unless it is dissolved earlier by the lieutenant governor of Prince Edward Island due to a motion of no confidence,or at the request of the premier. The current government had hinted that an election would be held "before Mother's Day" 2015,and such a dissolution would avoid any conflicts with the next federal election,expected to be held in October 2015.
The South Australian Liberal Party,officially known as the Liberal Party of Australia (South Australian Division),and often shortened to SA Liberals,is the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia. It was formed as the Liberal and Country League (LCL) in 1932 and became the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party when the Liberal Party was formed in 1945. It retained its Liberal and Country League name before changing to its current name in 1974. It is one of two major parties in the bicameral Parliament of South Australia,the other being the Australian Labor Party (SA Branch). The party is led by Vincent Tarzia since 12 August 2024.
This is a list of candidates of the 2018 South Australian state election. The election was held on 17 March 2018.
The 2022 South Australian Liberal Party leadership election was held on 19 April 2022 to elect a new leader of the South Australian Liberal Party,following the previous months' state election loss and resignation of then-leader Steven Marshall. The leadership contest was between three candidates:David Speirs,Josh Teague and Nick McBride. Speirs won the ballot contest by an overwhelming majority,succeeding Steven Marshall as leader and becoming the Leader of the Opposition.
