Maithili is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in parts of India and Nepal. It is native to the Mithila region, which encompasses parts of the eastern Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand as well as the Nepal's Koshi and Madhesh Provinces. The film is released on 30 October 2015. This film was earlier released in Bhojpuri in November 2011 under the name Deswa.

No one knows exactly when Maithili Music came into existence, probably due to the length of its history, but its age indicates that it might have helped other music develop and flourish in India and Nepal.It is believed that many new types of music forms have been sprouted from Maithili music as it is believed to be the oldest form of music is South Asia. Maithili music are played during a variety of ritual occasions, and it is believed that some of the most melodic music among them. The music was generally based on the daily life of a common man which made it relatable to the audience and hence accepted on mass. Although Maithili music is usually played by classical instruments, it has been modernized and now uses various modern instruments. 'Aina-i-Tirhut is a history book written by Bihari Lal Fitrat in Urdu language. It is one of the first attempt to cataloguing and compiling the history of Mithila, Bihar. It was first published in 1883 by Bahar Kashmir Press, Lucknow. The book full name is 'Tawarikh-ul-Fitrat Maroof Aina-i-Tirhut'.
Nitin Chandra is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter who mainly works in Bhojpuri cinema. He is the recipient of National Film Awards for his Maithili language film Mithila Makhaan in 2016. His Bhojpuri Film Deswa premiered at International Film Festival of India in 2011. His recent film Jackson Halt released in 2023.
