Mixtape, Vol. 1 (also titled as Mixtape, Vol. 1: Hosted by DJ Dirty Rico) is a remix album released on April 17, 2012 by the Washington, D.C.-based go-go band Rare Essence. [1] [2] [3] The album was compiled and remixed by DJ Dirty Rico. The follow-up album Mixtape, Vol. 2 was released on July 2, 2013. [4]

Tyree Cinque Simmons, professionally known as DJ Drama, is an American DJ, record executive and music promoter originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the co-founder of Generation Now, an Atlantic Records imprint with artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Skeme on the roster. He initially gained recognition as the official DJ for Atlanta rapper T.I. and as a prominent mixtape DJ with his series, Gangsta Grillz. Numerous artists have appeared on DJ Drama's Gangsta Grillz tapes, including Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Ludacris, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, and many others. Algernod Lanier Washington, better known by his stage name Plies, is an American rapper and songwriter. Born in Fort Myers, Florida, Washington was a wide receiver on the Miami Redskins football team of Miami University in Ohio in 1996 and 1997 before he became a rapper. After dropping out of college, he founded Big Gates with his stepbrother. Signed to Slip-n-Slide Records, from 2007 to 2008 he released three albums. Plies debuted in 2007 with The Real Testament with successful singles "Shawty" and "Hypnotized". Plies also released two albums in 2008, Definition of Real and Da REAList, and later released Goon Affiliated in 2010.

Ramone Johnson, better known by his stage name Cashis, is an American rapper who was born and raised in Chicago, but moved to Irvine, California. He was most notably featured on the Shady Records album Eminem Presents: The Re-Up with Eminem and the record label, and released The County Hound EP in 2007. The County Hound EP sold 6,700 copies in its first week and debuted on the US Billboard 200 at number 106. He's best known for appearing on Eminem's song, "You Don't Know", featuring 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks.

Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, better known by his stage name Wale, is an American rapper and songwriter. He first rose to prominence in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug " became popular in his hometown. Wale became locally recognized and continued recording music for the regional audience. Wale met producer Mark Ronson in 2006 and joined Ronson's label, Allido Records, in 2007. Austin Agustín Santos, better known by his stage name Arcángel, is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in New York City to Dominican parents. He and his family moved to Puerto Rico and after turning 12, he began moving back and forth between New York City and Puerto Rico. He returned to Puerto Rico in 2002, interested in becoming a performer of reggaeton, a contemporary Latin American urban music genre. While living in Puerto Rico, he would eventually form part of a popular then-underground reggaeton act, Arcángel & De La Ghetto. The duo went on to make songs that became popular among reggaeton fans in the United States and Puerto Rico, including "Agresivo", "Sorpresa" and "Mi Fanática" during the mid-2000s.

He was initially signed to DJ Khaled's label We the Best Music Group in 2008.
