The Mizoram Co-operative Apex Bank or Mizoram Apex Bank is an Indian co-operative banking company headquartered in Aizawl. It was incorporated in 1982 as an urban cooperative bank.

History

The bank was established on 31 July 1982 , as a state co-operative bank with a share capital of 16.53 lakh (equivalent to 3.1 croreorUS$390,000 in 2023). Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission signed a memorandum of understanding with Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank on 17 February 2018 to help self-help groups. [1]

Operation

The Bank has operations in Siaha, Lawngtlai, Lunglei, Champhai, Serchhip, [2] Kolasib, Mamit, [3] Main Branch, Dawrpui Branch, New Market Branch, Bawngkawn Branch and Cooperative Centenary Branch. The Bank currently has 1037 share-holder cooperative societies with the Government of Mizoram as of 30 September 2013 and has a total staff strength of 166 employees. [4] The Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank has given loans to over 11,483 people in the state of Mizoram. [5]

Pu Lal Thanhawla is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Mizoram, belonging to the Indian National Congress party. He holds the record for longest-serving Chief Minister of Mizoram, occupying the position for five terms: 1984 to 1986, 1989 to 1993, 1993 to 1998, 2008 to 2013, and 2013 to 2018. He served as President of the Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee from 1973 to 2021. Buldana Urban Cooperative Credit Society was formed on 15 August 1986. Chairman (Mr.) Radheshyamji Chandak started it with capital of 210 USD and 72 members. In a span of 27 years and mainly in last decade under managing director Dr Sukesh Zamwar, the Credit Society has grown to size of 1.1 billion dollar business with more than half a million (700,000) membership. The area of operation is mainly in central and western India in four states of India. Now the society has 333 branches and 5000 employee and 300 warehouses. Total built up area for Warehouse is 5,000,000 sq feet and capacity of 435,000 metric tons. It maintains a presence in most of the metro cities of India and also in rural areas.

Government Zawlnuam College is a college in Zawlnuam, Mamit district of Mizoram. The college is affiliated to Mizoram University. The College has only around 60 students.

The West Bengal State Co-operative Bank (WBSTCB) is an Indian provincial co-operative bank based in Kolkata. Hnahthial district is one of the eleven districts of Mizoram state in India. The creation of Hnahthial District was first notified on 12 September 2008 but until 2020, it remained non-functional despite a number of promises made by top political leaders and an all-out effort by Hnahthial District Function Demand Committee to let the state government make it functional. Hnahthial district was made functional only 12 years later on 3 June 2019 with the creation of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

Khawzawl district is one of the eleven districts of Mizoram state in India. Khawzawl district was recently created on 3 June 2019.
