Moctezuma is the third studio album by Mexican indie rock band Porter. The album's name means "lord of lords" in the Nahuatl language while the songs tell the story of Spaniards arriving to Mexico and the fall of the Aztec Empire and the Mexica people. [2]
This is the band's first album with vocalist David Velasco.
Porter's debut studio album, Atemahawke , was released in May 2007. The album received positive reviews and became popular due to the single "Host of a Ghost". The group performed the song at the 2008 Coachella Festival with Natalia Lafourcade. [3] Shortly after the Coachella performance, the band went on hiatus and disbanded as vocalist Juan Son started a solo career while the other members focused on finishing their education. The band announced they would be reforming when the lineup for the 2013 Vive Latino music festival was released. The band reformed with vocalist David Velasco, with Juan Son not performing with the reunited lineup for unknown reasons.
Four music videos were released to promote the album: "Palapa", "Huitzil", "Rincón Yucateco" and "La China". The narrative of the videos center around the lyrics and themes of the album.
Moctezuma was placed at number 10 on Rolling Stone's 10 Best Latin Albums of 2015. [4]

Perry Farrell is an American singer, songwriter, and musician referred to as the "Godfather of Alternative Music". Metric is a Canadian indie rock band founded in 1998 in Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Emily Haines, James Shaw, Joshua Winstead and Joules Scott-Key. The band started in 1998 as a duo formed by Haines and Shaw with the name "Mainstream". After releasing an EP titled Mainstream EP, they changed the band's name to Metric.
Caifanes is a Mexican rock band formed in Mexico City in 1986. The group achieved commercial success during the late 1980s and early 1990s. The original lineup of members consisted of Saúl Hernández, Sabo Romo (bass), Alfonso André (drums) and Diego Herrera. Alejandro Marcovich later joined as lead guitarist. Caifanes' style can be described as a hybrid of British new wave, progressive rock and Latin percussion underscored by deep, somber and Latin American-Mexican Spanish-influenced lyrics and the vocal style of Saúl Hernández. Members of Caifanes have cited The Cure, The Beatles and King Crimson as major influences. LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. The group primarily produces music in the synth-pop and alternative dance genres, drawing influences from house and disco.
Santana is an American rock band formed in San Francisco in 1966 by Mexican-born guitarist Carlos Santana. The band has undergone various recording and performing line-ups in its history, with Santana being the only consistent member. After signing with Columbia Records, the band's appearance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969 increased their profile, and they went on to record the commercially successful and critically acclaimed albums Santana (1969), Abraxas (1970), and Santana III (1971). Atemahawke is the second studio album of Mexican surrealist rock band Porter, released on May 15, 2007. To date, the only single released is "Host of a Ghost". The name consists of an English phonetic translation of Nahuatl for Guadalajara, Ātemaxac. Each of the album's songs have a back story which are printed in the album, giving further explanation to the lyrics. The album was later named the 3rd best of the decade by Latin music website Club Fonograma. This is the band's last release with vocalist Juan Son.

Cherry Glazerr is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 2013. The current lineup consists of guitarist and lead vocalist Clementine Creevy, bassist Sami Perez and drummer Tabor Allen. The band's sound has transitioned from lo-fi and garage rock on their debut release Haxel Princess in 2014 to a more polished rock sound, with elements of grunge, punk and new wave on their subsequent releases Apocalipstick and Stuffed & Ready. Their fourth studio album, I Don't Want You Anymore, was released on Secretly Canadian on September 29, 2023.
