Bahrain sent a delegation to compete at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, which were held from 15 September to 1 October 2000. This was the fifth consecutive Summer Olympics the Kingdom took part in. The delegation consisted of four athletes: sprinter Mariam Mohamed Hadi Al Hilli, middle-distance runner Mohamed Saleh Naji Haidara and short-distance swimmers Dawood Yosuf Mohamed Jassim and Fatema Hameed Gerashi. Al Hilli and Gerashi's inclusion in the Bahraini delegation was the first time in history a Gulf Arab nation had sent female athletes to the Olympic Games. All four did not progress beyond the initial heats of their respective competitions. Bahrain's best performance came from Haidara and Jassim who placed seventh in the heats of the men's 800 metres and the men's 100 metres freestyle. Gerashi was disqualified for a false start in the women's 50 metres freestyle and Al Hilli came eighth in her heat in the women's 100 metres.
The Maldives competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, from 25 July to 9 August 1992. The delegation's participation in the Barcelona Olympics marked the Maldives' second appearance at the Summer Olympics since their debut at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Seven athletes competed across two sports; Ahmed Shageef, Mohamed Amir, Hussain Riyaz, Hussein Haleem and Aminath Rishtha in track and field, and Ahmed Imthiyaz and Mohamed Rasheed in swimming. None of the track or swimming athletes advanced past the first round in their events, and no Maldivian has won a medal in any events.
Egypt, which is represented by the Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC), competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States from July 19 to August 4, 1996. Twenty-nine Egyptian athletes, twenty-seven men and two women, competed in boxing, handball, judo, rowing, shooting, swimming, weightlifting, and wrestling, but the nation did not win any medals.
Comoros took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. It was Comoros's fourth appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1996. The Comoros team included three athletes: runners Mhadjou Youssouf and Feta Ahamada, and swimmer Mohamed Attoumane. Ahamada, a 100 metres sprinter, was the flag bearer for the opening ceremony, the first woman to be given the honour. None of the Comoros athletes progressed further than the qualifying heats.
Niger sent five athletes, their second largest contingent ever, equalling the most sports in which they have participated. to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. It was Niger's 10th Olympics; their only medalist has been Issaka Dabore, in boxing, at the 1972 games.
The Asian island nation of the Maldives competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London from 27 July to 12 August 2012. This was the nation's seventh consecutive appearance at the Olympics, the delegation consisted of two athletes each in track and field and swimming. For the first time since their debut at the Summer Olympics, the Maldives entered one badminton player into the Olympics. Mohamed Ajfan Rasheed, the inaugural Maldivian badminton player to compete at the Olympics, was the nation's flag bearer at the opening ceremony with Azneem Ahmed carrying the Maldivian flag in the closing ceremony. All the athletes qualified for the games through wild cards from International Association of Athletic Federations FINA and Badminton World Federation. The Maldives however, has yet to win its first ever Olympic medal.
The Marshall Islands marked its second consecutive Olympiad, at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, from July 27 to August 12, 2012. The Olympian delegation included two men and two women, one male and one female athlete in athletics and one male and one female athlete in swimming. Middle-distance runner Haley Nemra was honored as the national flag bearer at the opening ceremony. The Marshall Islands continued their streak of bringing home no medals.
Alejandro Gómez Perez is a Venezuelan swimmer. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, he participated in the men's 1500 metre freestyle, but was eliminated in the qualifying heats. His mother Maria competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in the 200 and 400m freestyle events.
David Karl Brandl is an Austrian swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a multiple-time Austrian champion, a four-time national record holder, and a current member of Perger Swimming Club in Perg. He also won a bronze medal, as a member of the Austrian swimming team, at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
Stanislau Anatolievich Neviarouski is a Belarusian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint and relay freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a multiple-time Belarusian record holder for the sprint freestyle events.
Paulius Viktoravičius is a Lithuanian swimmer, who specialized in sprint and relay freestyle events. He is a multiple-time Lithuanian swimming champion and record holder in both the freestyle and medley relay events.
Bryan Tay is a Singaporean swimmer, who specialized in individual and relay freestyle events. He is also a multiple-time medalist for the individual events, and a two-time defending champion for the relay freestyle events at the Southeast Asian Games.
William Benson is a New Zealand swimmer, who specialised in freestyle and fly events. He represented New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed as part of the men's national swimming team for the men's 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. Benson joined the team, along with compatriots Cameron Gibson, Mark Herring, and Orinoco Faamausili-Banse, and swam in the third leg of the competition, with an individual split time of 48.65 seconds. He and his swimming team placed sixth in the first heat, and eleventh overall, for a total time of 3:15.41.
Orinoco Faamausili-Banse-Prince is a New Zealand swimmer of Samoan heritage, who specialized in freestyle events. He represented New Zealand at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, and competed as part of the men's national swimming team for the men's 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. Faamausili-Banse joined the team, along with compatriots Cameron Gibson, Mark Herring, and Willy Benson, and swam in the final leg of the competition, with an individual split time of 48.96 seconds. He and his swimming team placed sixth in the first heat, and eleventh overall, for a total time of 3:15.41.
Petr Romashkin is an Uzbek swimmer, who specializes in sprint freestyle events. He was selected to compete for the Uzbek swimming squad at the 2008 Summer Olympics, placing himself in the top 60 of the men's 100 m freestyle.
Emanuele Nicolini is a Sammarinese swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He holds numerous national records in the 200 and 400 m freestyle, and had represented his nation San Marino in two editions of the Olympic Games.
Oleg Rabota is a Kazakh swimmer, who specialized in middle-distance freestyle and backstroke events. He represented his nation Kazakhstan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a silver medal in the 200 m freestyle at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games in Macau, China. Rabota also served as a member of the Southern Illinois Salukis swimming and diving team under head coach Rick Walker, while pursuing his sports management studies at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois.
Mohamed Mamdouh Abdelhamid El-Nady is an Egyptian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He was selected to the Egyptian swimming team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, finishing among the top 60 swimmers in the men's 50 m freestyle.
Irakli Revishvili is a Georgian swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He represented his nation Georgia at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has currently owned two Georgian national records in both the 200 and 400 m freestyle. Revishvili also trained for the national swimming team under the tutelage of head coach and 2004 Olympian Zurab Khomasuridze.
Djibouti competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. The nation's participation marked its eighth appearance at the Summer Olympics. Djibouti did not field any athletes at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
