Mohiuddin Ahmad (born 1952) is a Bangladeshi writer and political historiographer, mainly known for his historical studies of the major political parties in Bangladesh. [1] [2] His notable works include Jasader Utthan Patan: Asthir Samayer Rajniti (The Rise and Fall of JASAD: Politics of Restless Time), [3] Awami League: Utthanparba 1948–1970 (Awami League: The Ascent 1948–1970), Awami League: Juddhadiner Kotha (Awami League: Story of War Days) and BNP: Samay-Asamay (BNP: Ups and Downs). Biography

Born in Dhaka, he studied economics at the University of Dhaka. [1] He was elected co-general secretary of Haji Muhammad Mohsin Hall Students’ Union in the election of Dhaka University Students’ Union in 1970. He worked as a reporter and assistant editor in the Daily Ganakantha. He also directed a master's programme in NGO studies at Sungkonghoe University in South Korea, where he was also a professor.

The Bangladesh National Awami Party is a political party in Bangladesh. The party traces its origins to a splinter group of the National Awami Party (Bhashani) led by Mashiur Rahman, who was popularly known as Jadu Mia. Jadu Mia's NAP faction had merged with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in the late 1970s. Jadu Mia's son Shafiqul Ghani Swapan refounded the Bangladesh National Awami Party in December 2006. The Logi Boitha Movement or Logi Boitha Rally was a political rally on 28 October 2006 in Dhaka convened by the contemporary opposition party Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina, in reaction to alleged decisions taken by the then caretaker government. It was part of the political crisis in Bangladesh during 2006-2008.

Mosharraf Hossain was a politician and lawyer from Jessore, Bangladesh. He was actively involved in the Bengali nationalist movement in East Pakistan and the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.

In 2023, by-elections are scheduled to be held for vacant seats in the Jatiya Sangsad, the legislative body of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. In the Jatiya Sangsad, MPs for 300 seats are elected directly and MPs for 50 reserved women seats are elected indirectly by the MPs, thus popular by-elections are only held in the direct seats. As the 11th parliament is scheduled to be expire on 29 January 2024 and the Election Commission has announced to hold the next Bangladeshi general election between late December 2023 to early January 2024, all candidates elected by these by-polls will be members of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.
