Monica Svensson (born December 26, 1978) is a retired race walker from Sweden. She represented her native country at the 2003 World Championships in Paris, France, where she ended up in 27th place in the women's 20 km walk event. She was credited with the world best time in 50 km walk before the event got official recognition. [1] [2]

The World Athletics Championships, known as the IAAF World Championships in Athletics until 2019, are a biennial athletics competition organized by World Athletics, formerly International Association of Athletics Federations. Alongside Olympic Games, the championships represents the highest level of senior international outdoor athletics competition for track and field athletics globally, including marathon running and race walking. In 2019 her record was beaten by Hong Liu with a time of 3:59:15. In the same year, she finished outside the top ten in the IAAF Challenge races in Taicang and La Coruña, and was seventh in a national 50 km meeting.
