Monroe is a city in Walton County, Georgia, United States, of which it is the county seat. It is located both one hour east of Atlanta via US 78 and GA 138 to I-20 and east of Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport and is one of the exurban cities in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Monroe is also a city known for its accessibility to Conyers just 20 minutes away and Lawrenceville 35 minutes away. The population was 13,234 at the 2010 census and 13,673 at the 2019 estimates.

He was a partner in the former Howard Brothers Discount Stores, which at their peak had eighty-seven outlets throughout the American South.
William Derwood Cann Jr., was a World War II lieutenant colonel who subsequently became a college professor, manufacturing executive, and the interim mayor of Monroe in Ouachita Parish in northeastern Louisiana.
