Death was an American death metal band formed in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in 1984 by guitarist Chuck Schuldiner, drummer/vocalist Kam Lee and guitarist Rick Rozz. Death is considered to be among the most influential bands in heavy metal music and a pioneering force in death metal. The band's 1987 debut album, Scream Bloody Gore, has been widely regarded as one of the first death metal records, alongside the first records from Possessed and Necrophagia.
George Fisher, better known by his stage name Corpsegrinder, is an American death metal vocalist who is the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, Paths of Possession and the supergroup Serpentine Dominion.

Vile toured the United States and Europe several times since their inception in 1996 including with Cannibal Corpse in 2004. Their most recent tour was of Japan in December 2013.
Imperial Doom is the debut album by American death metal band Monstrosity. It was released on May 26, 1992, through Nuclear Blast. The album sold 40,000 copies worldwide and received excellent ratings in the press. The album was supported by a European tour, but a little later, following disagreements regarding royalties, Monstrosity left Nuclear Blast.

This is the last album to feature George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher on vocals, as he went on to join the death metal band Cannibal Corpse. It was released on Conquest Music, Inc worldwide and licensed to Nuclear Blast for a European release. It was later licensed by Hammerheart Records (Netherlands) and re-released in the early 2000s for Europe.

However, the label was a rip-off label and therefore Monstrosity later re-released it through The Plague Rec. as LP and CD. This album was recorded at Morrisound Recording Studio in Tampa, Florida. This is also the first album to not feature George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher on lead vocals.

The Discovery is the second studio album by American progressive metalcore band Born of Osiris. It was released through Sumerian Records on March 22, 2011. It is also the first Born of Osiris record to make use of seven string guitars, and was produced solely by members of the band. Early demo versions of some of the album’s songs were produced and mixed by Misha Mansoor but the final retail release was mixed by Jason Suecof.

Florida death metal is a regional scene and stylistic subdivision of death metal. Some of the most significantly pioneering and best-selling death metal acts emerged in Florida, especially in the Tampa Bay area. As a result, Tampa is unofficially known by many death metal fans as the "capital of death metal." The scene coalesced in the mid-1980s through early 1990s around the output of bands such as Death, Nasty Savage, Deicide, Monstrosity, Morbid Angel, Atheist, Obituary, and others. The producer Scott Burns and the studio Morrisound Recording were also instrumental in developing and popularizing the Florida scene. Some bands which originated outside of Florida, such as Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse, relocated to the state in order to participate in this burgeoning scene. The Florida bands featured a more technical approach to the evolving death metal sound, a style which spread beyond the confines of the state, and some were instrumental in creating the progressive death metal subgenre. The death metal genre as a whole, including the Florida scene, declined in popularity in the second half of the 1990s, but many bands within the Florida scene persisted and the scene resurged in popularity in subsequent decades.
