Montseng Margaret Tsiu is a South African politician,trade unionist and nurse who served as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health in the Free State provincial government from May 2018 until March 2023. She was sworn in as a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress in April 2018. Tsiu is the former provincial chairperson of the National Education,Health and Allied Workers' Union and the former director of nursing in the Free State government.
She acquired an Overseas School Certificate through the St Catherine College in Maseru,Lesotho. She later earned a diploma in general nursing and a diploma in midwifery from the School of Nursing in Maseru. Tsiu obtained a diploma in Community Nursing Science from the University of the Free State before receiving a post-graduate diploma in Public Management at the Regenesys Business School. [1]
Tsiu served as the chairperson of the National Education,Health and Allied Workers' Union in the Free State for nine years and was a member of the union's National Executive Committee (NEC). She was also a member of the Provincial Executive Committee of the African National Congress. [1]
Tsiu stood unsuccessfully for the Free State Provincial Legislature on the ANC list in the 2014 election. [1]
Tsiu is the former director of nursing in the Free State Department of Health. She became an ANC member of the Free State Legislature on 23 April 2018,filling the vacancy created by the resignation of William Bulwane who had been sworn in two weeks earlier. [2] [3] Shortly afterwards,Tsiu was appointed to the Executive Council of the Free State led by premier Sisi Ntombela;she took over the health portfolio from Butana Komphela who had been moved to the Social Development portfolio. In the 2019 elections,Tsiu was elected to her first full term in the provincial legislature. [1] Ntombela announced her new executive council shortly after her swearing-in and Tsiu was re-appointed as MEC for Health. [8]
Tsiu led the provincial government's response against the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2020,Tsiu and Dr David Motau welcomed 17 Cuban doctors to the Free State to assist the province in dealing with the pandemic. [9]
In November 2022,Tsiu expressed her support for pit bulls to be removed from Free State communities after a three-year-old boy was mauled to death by two dogs,including a pit bull,in Hennenman. [10]
On 14 March 2023,newly elected Free State premier Mxolisi Dukwana named his executive council following Ntombela's resignation in February;former MEC Mathabo Leeto was appointed to succeed Tsiu. [11]
In October 2020,Tsiu and premier Ntombela both tested positive for COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. [12]
Sefora Hixsonia "Sisi" Ntombela is a South African politician who was the 6th Premier of the Free State and a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature for the African National Congress. She previously served as the Free State MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements and as MEC for Social Development. Ntombela was also the Deputy President of the African National Congress Women's League and the treasurer of the Free State ANC.
Skully Thembeni Nxangisa is a South African politician who served in the Free State Executive Council as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from May 2019 until October 2021,when he became the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development. He was removed from the executive council in March 2023
Pule Herbert Isak Makgoe was a South African politician and anti-apartheid activist. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to the Free State Provincial Legislature in 1994. After holding multiple positions in the Executive Council of the Free State,he was appointed Member of the Executive Council for Education in May 2009,a position he would hold until his death in March 2023.
Mmoloki Saviour Cwaile is a South African politician who served as the North West MEC for Cooperative Governance,Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from November 2020 to August 2021. A member of the African National Congress,he has been a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since February 2019. Cwaile had previously served as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Premier,Finance,Cooperative Governance,Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs in the legislature.

He was sworn in as a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature on 8 September. Prior to serving in the provincial government,he was the Executive Mayor of the Pixley ka Seme District Municipality. Monakali is a member of the African National Congress and the party's Pixley ka Seme regional chairperson.
Kwekwe William Bulwane is a South African politician who has been a member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since May 2019. He had previously served as an MPL in April 2018. Bulwane had previously served in the Free State Executive Council as the Member of the Executive Council for Agriculture and Rural Development from May 2019 to October 2021 and as the MEC for Police,Roads and Transport from October 2021 until his demotion from the Executive Council in March 2023.

Malambule Samuel Mashinini is a South African politician and trade union leader who has been a member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2014. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to the Free State Provincial Legislature in May 2014. He was then appointed as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure. A year later,he became the MEC for Economic and Small Business Development,Tourism and Environmental Affairs. Mashinini was appointed MEC for Police,Roads &Transport in October 2016. He was dismissed in October 2021.

Motshidisi Agnes Koloi,also spelled Motshidise,is a South African politician and educator who is currently serving as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Social Development in the Free State provincial government. Before that,she was MEC for Public Works and Human Settlements. She has served in the Free State Provincial Legislature as an ANC representative since May 2019. Prior to her election to the Provincial Legislature,Koloi had served as the executive mayor of the Moqhaka Local Municipality.

Nokwanje Selina "Mathabo" Leeto is a South African politician who has been the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Health in the Executive Council of the Free State and a Member of the Free State Provincial Legislature since 2023. Leeto had previously served in the provincial legislature between 2014 and 2019 and during that time,she was the MEC for Sports,Arts,Culture and Recreation. Leeto is the Provincial Treasurer of the African National Congress,as of 2023.
Motete Daniel "Oupa" Khoabane is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature from 2014 to 2019. During that time,he served as the Free State's Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Agriculture and Rural Development from 2015 to 2018 and as MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2018 to 2019. He failed to gain re-election to the provincial legislature in the 2019 general election.

Between 1994 and 2009,she served almost continuously in the Free State Executive Council and held several different portfolios,including as the Free State's inaugural Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Local Government and Housing from 1994.
