Moonlight Sonata is the 2nd EP and the final release from American progressive metal band The Human Abstract. [1] The EP was released on February 14, 2012, and is a cover of all three parts of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata". [2] [3]
Guitars for the album were recorded by Dean Herrera with production from Will Putney. [4] [5]
The ensemble likens the song to “Dean Shreds Beethoven” while Axl Rosenberg of MetalSucks describes the albums as "the best two bucks you'll ever spend today". Rosenberg goes on to say that the band added heavy metal to the song, and that the song purports that there exists "distinct and definite connection between classical music and metal". [1]

The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, marked Quasi una fantasia, Op. 27, No. 2, is a piano sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was completed in 1801 and dedicated in 1802 to his pupil Countess Giulietta Guicciardi. The popular name Moonlight Sonata goes back to a critic's remark after Beethoven's death.

The Human Abstract is an American metalcore band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2004, the group was originally signed to the independent label Hopeless Records, the band then released the two albums Nocturne (2006) and Midheaven (2008) before signing to eOne Music and releasing Digital Veil (2011). The Human Abstract has gone through several lineup changes over the years, with the current consisting of founding members Dean Herrera, A.J. Minette and Brett Powell, in addition to Henry Selva and Travis Richter.

Emil Werstler is an American guitarist and musician based in Atlanta, Georgia, who is perhaps best known for his work with metal and gypsy jazz. In 2004, Werstler became lead guitarist for the metal band Dååth, whose second album The Hinderers peaked at No. 49 on the Top Heatseekers chart in 2007. In 2009 Dååth released The Concealers on Roadrunner, which reached No. 35 on Top Heatseekers and was placed as No. 3 on a list of the "top twenty metal albums of 2009" by Metal Sucks.
