Metalcore is a broadly defined fusion genre combining elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk, that originated in the late 1980s. Metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages conducive to moshing, while other defining instrumentation includes heavy guitar riffs often utilizing percussive pedal tones and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically perform screaming; more popular bands often combine this with the use of standard singing, usually during the bridge or chorus of a song. However, the death growl is also a popular technique within the genre.

While there are some precursors to the concept of death metal fused with metalcore/hardcore elements seen in the 1990s, deathcore itself emerged in the early 2000s and gained prominence beginning in the mid-2000s within the southwestern United States, especially Arizona and inland southern California, which are home to many notable bands and various festivals.

The band is most known for their 2021 single "To the Hellfire". They have released four studio albums Psalms (2015), Flesh Coffin (2017), Immortal (2020), and Pain Remains (2022). The band has also released four EPs. Since 2011, no original members remain in the band.
Fit for an Autopsy is an American deathcore band from Jersey City, New Jersey, formed in 2008. The band consists of guitarists Pat Sheridan, Will Putney and Tim Howley, drummer Josean Orta, vocalist Joe Badolato, and bassist Peter "Blue" Spinazola. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast and have released seven studio albums since formation.
Coma Witch is the seventh studio album by American metalcore band The Acacia Strain. It was released on October 14, 2014, through Rise Records. It is the band's first album to feature new guitarists Devin Shidaker and Richard Gomez, and the first album to not feature original guitarist Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz due to his departure from the band in May 2013. It is also the band's final album to feature bassist Jack Strong prior to his departure in May 2015.

Oh What the Future Holds is the sixth studio album by American deathcore band Fit for an Autopsy. The album was released on January 14, 2022, through Nuclear Blast and was produced by the band's guitarist Will Putney. It has received positive reviews from critics.

Better Lovers is an American hardcore punk band from Buffalo, New York. Formed in 2023 after the dissolution of Every Time I Die, the group consists of vocalist Greg Puciato, guitarists Jordan Buckley and Will Putney, bassist Stephen Micciche, and drummer Clayton Holyoak. The band is signed to SharpTone Records and have released one album, one EP, and two singles. Often labeled a supergroup, the band features members formerly of Every Time I Die and The Dillinger Escape Plan (Puciato), as well as a current member of Fit For An Autopsy (Putney).
Highly Irresponsible is the debut studio album by American hardcore punk band Better Lovers. It was released on October 25th, 2024 through SharpTone Records. The album was self-produced by guitarist Will Putney.
