Fit for an Autopsy is an American deathcore band from Jersey City, New Jersey, formed in 2008. The band consists of guitarists Pat Sheridan, Will Putney and Tim Howley, drummer Josean Orta, vocalist Joe Badolato, and bassist Peter "Blue" Spinazola. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast and have released six studio albums since formation. [1]

History

The band released their first demo in 2008, followed a year later by the group's first EP, Hell on Earth. [2] In 2011, Fit for an Autopsy released their debut studio album, The Process of Human Extermination . [3] [4]

In September 2013, the band released their second studio album, Hellbound . [1] Less than a year later, in April 2014, the band announced that vocalist Nate Johnson would be leaving the band. Greg Wilburn of the Devastated was immediately named as Johnson's temporary replacement. [5]

In early 2015, the band announced the departure of Greg Wilburn and the addition of their new vocalist, Joe Badolato. Along with this, they announced that they were in the writing process for a new album. This third studio album, named Absolute Hope Absolute Hell , was released on October 2, 2015. [6]

In July 2016, the band announced a split-EP, named The Depression Sessions, with fellow deathcore bands Thy Art Is Murder and The Acacia Strain. The EP was released on August 12, 2016. [7]

The band released a new song, "Heads Will Hang", from their fourth studio album The Great Collapse on January 31, 2017. The album was released on March 17, 2017. [8] On May 8, 2018, Fit For An Autopsy announced they signed with Nuclear Blast.

On October 25, 2019, the band released their fifth studio album The Sea of Tragic Beasts through Nuclear Blast. [9]

On April 6, 2020, the band released a standalone single "Fear Tomorrow" through Nuclear Blast. [10]

On September 22, 2021, the band announced their new sixth studio album Oh What the Future Holds . Two days later, they released the album's first single "Far from Heaven". [11] The song was later elected by Loudwire as the 35th best metal song of 2021. [12] The album was released on January 14, 2022. [13] Loudwire later noted Oh What the Future Holds as one of the Best Rock + Metal Albums of 2022. [14]

On June 6, 2022, the band announced their invitation to tour with Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage as part of the Omens Tour. [15] [16]

On April 7, 2023, the band released a second split-EP. A sequel of sorts to 2016's The Depression Sessions called The Aggression Sessions still featuring Thy Art Is Murder but with Malevolence this time around. [17]

Monte Conner is a former senior vice president of A&R for Roadrunner Records. His path into the music industry began while at Baruch College in Manhattan, where he hosted a weekly underground metal radio show, called “The Witching Hour,” at the school’s radio station WBMB. The show ran from September 1982 to December 1986 and during that time Conner immersed himself in the emerging thrash and death metal scenes, honing his skills for discovering new talent. After graduating college, he landed a job at Shatter Records handling College Radio Promotion. He was at Shatter for nine months, from March to November 1987, before leaving to join Roadrunner Records in December 1987, also doing College Radio Promotion. By January 1988, he added A&R to his duties at the label, and by late 1988 he became the label’s Head of A&R for North America.

Holy War had a successful first week of sales, charting at No. 7 in Australia and No. 82 in the U.S. as well as several other U.S. Charts.

The band was formed in 2009 under the name "In Reference to a Sinking Ship" and later changed their name to "Dark Sermon" in 2012. The band's most recent effort, The Oracle, was released on August 21, 2015 worldwide through EOne Music and Nuclear Blast Records. Dark Sermon has toured and played with many metal acts including Aborted, Chimaira, Sepultura, Behemoth and Cattle Decapitation.
