Moore Hall is a co-ed residence hall at Kansas State University, Kansas, United States. It is located on the East side of Kansas State's Manhattan, Kansas campus in the North-West corner of the Derby Complex, north of West Hall and west of Haymaker Hall. It is known for its Leadership Studies and Business cluster floors. [1] After the end of the Spring semester, students typically move out of the halls, but Moore provides residency for year-round students along with Haymaker Hall. Some return to live there another year while others move on to live off-campus or in fraternities and sororities.

History

The building opened in 1967, named after Helen Moore. [2] Moore was Dean of Women at Kansas State University from 1940 until 1957, when she retired as an administrator but remained active on the Kansas State faculty as a professor of mathematics. [3] She died on February 8, 1963. [4]

Ford Hall (Kansas State University) University residence

Ford Hall is an all-female residence hall at Kansas State University and is named for Kenney L. Ford who was Secretary of the Kansas State Alumni Association from 1928-1961. It is located on the South East corner of the Derby Complex at Kansas State's Manhattan, Kansas campus south of Haymaker Hall and east of West Hall on Manhattan Avenue and Old Claflin Road. It has a residence of approximately 450 students, and all rooms are suites. After the end of the Spring semester, all students move out and some return to live there another year, while others move on to live off-campus or at fraternities and sororities.

The main campus of Virginia Tech is located in Blacksburg, Virginia; the central campus is roughly bordered by Prices Fork Road to the northwest, Plantation Drive to the west, Main Street to the east, and U.S. Route 460 bypass to the south, although it also has several thousand acres beyond the central campus. The Virginia Tech campus consists of 130 buildings on approximately 2,600 acres (11 km2).

West Hall (Kansas State University) Residence hall

West Hall is a formerly all-female residence hall at Kansas State University with two wings of males. It is located on the South West corner of the Derby Complex at Kansas State's Manhattan, Kansas campus south of Moore Hall and west of Ford Hall and Haymaker Hall on Old Claflin Road. It has a residence of approximately 300 students, is renowned for its community service and its campus wide involvement.

Haymaker Hall is a co-ed residence hall at Kansas State University. It is located on the North-East corner of the Derby Complex at Kansas State's Manhattan, Kansas campus North of Ford Hall and East of Moore Hall on Manhattan Avenue and Claflin Road. It has a residence of approximately 525 students, and is renowned for its large concentration of agriculture and prehealth students. The fourth floor is the Agriculture Cluster study floor, while the seventh floor is the Pre-Health Cluster study floor. After the end of the Spring semester, all students move out; some return to live there another year, while others move on to live off-campus or at fraternities and sororities.

Derby Dining Center

Derby Dining Center, named after reference librarian Grace Derby, is the largest dining facility at Kansas State University's campus and serves approximately 2,000 students living in Ford, Haymaker, Moore and West Residence Halls. Home to the Wildcat Training Table, The Derb’ (Derby) is a short walk from academic buildings on the East side of campus. T•H•E Bakery, a retail bakery specializing in made-from-scratch cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies and birthday cakes, is located on the ground floor of Derby Dining.

Thyrsa Amos Dean of Women

Thyrsa Wealtheow Amos was the Dean of Women and Professor of Education at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, from 1919 to 1941. She was the founder and First President of the Pennsylvania Association of Deans of Women, the founder of the Society of Cwens, and the President of the National Association of Deans of Women (NADW). Her main area of interest was in student personnel, especially for women. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women.
