Morten Haga Lunde (born 20 December 1960) is a Norwegian military officer. He has been head of the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, and head of the Norwegian Intelligence Service.

Life and career

Lunde was born in Os on 20 December 1960. [1]

He graduated from the Norwegian Air Force Academy in 1987, and from the NATO Defense College in 2002. He was appointed head of Norwegian Joint Headquarters in 2013, with the rank of lieutenant general. [2]

In 2015 he was appointed head of the Norwegian Intelligence Service. [3] He received the Nynorsk User of the Year award in 2017. [4]

Lunde served as head of the Norwegian Intelligence Service until November 2020, when he was succeeded by Nils Andreas Stensønes. [1]

The Norwegian Joint Headquarters, NJHQ is the Norwegian Armed Forces operational commando-center. It is located at Reitan in Bodø Municipality, where during the Cold War NATO's Allied Command North Norway was based. The current organization was created on 1 August 2009, replacing a former joint commando center in Stavanger Municipality, which merged with the Northern Norway Command. Nynorsk User of the Year is a prize awarded by the Nynorsk Cultural Center at the Nynorsk Festival every year. The prize is awarded to the "persons or institutions that demonstrate the ability to break language and cultural conventions on the use of Nynorsk, which through their example or practical work make it easier to be Nynorsk users, or which create a greater general understanding of Nynorsk." Since 2006, the prize has consisted of NOK 50,000 and a graphic print, and on two occasions a copy of the game Dialektspelet. In 2014, the prize was NOK 100,000, split equally between the two prize recipients. The competition is headed by the Nynorsk Cultural Center, which also serves as the jury.
