Peter Okoye (born 18 November 1981), who is better known as Mr P, is a Nigerian singer. [1] He rose to fame in the 2000s as a member of the P-Square duo with his identical twin brother Rudeboy [2] and in 2021 was awarded with an honorary Doctorate degree from ESCAE University in Benin Republic. Early life

Mr. P and his twin brother Rudeboy grew up in a large family, in Jos in Plateau State, Nigeria. He was born into the family of Josephine Okoye and Mazi Moses Okoye. [5]

Peter and his brother Paul joined a school of music and drama club, where they started dancing, singing and performing songs of popular artist like MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Michael Jackson. [6]

Solo career

In 2017, a disbandment of P-Square was made and both band members parted ways. [7] [8] Mr P first dropped his solo single titled "For My Head", "Cool It Down" in 2017. [9]

In 2018 Mr. P collaborated with Nyanda of Brick & Lace on a song titled "Wokie Wokie". [10] [ better source needed ] In 2021, Mr. P founded his own record label called PClassic Label, the label has signed Nigerian activist and disc jockey DJ Switch [11] and in 2021, he released a 16-track debut album titled, The Prodigal which featured Tiwa Savage, Simi, Teni, Wande Coal, Tamar Braxton, Singah, Mohombi, DJ Switch, and OvieKelz. Education

Peter Okoye attended St. Murumba secondary school, a small Catholic school in Jos, Plateau State Nigeria. Later in 1999, He applied to the University of Abuja to study Business Administration. [14]

Achievement

In 2001 P-Square won the '' Grab Da Mic'' competition making Benson and Hedges sponsor their album titled '' Last Nite''. P Square was also nominated as '' Most promising African Group'' in the Kora Global Awards.

They won the 2003 Amen Award for ''Best R&B Group''. 4th April 2010, P Square were named the Artist of the year at the Kora award in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

On 8,October 2015 P Square were given range rover SUV from Globa com as Glo Ambassadors for their sponsorship. [15]

Personal life

In 2013, Okoye and his then-girlfriend, Lola Omotayo welcomed a daughter in a San Francisco hospital in the United States. [16] On 17 November 2013, the duo got married at the Ark in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. [17]

Endorsement deals

On June 16, 2016, Mr P was made a Kia motor ambassador. [18] Mr. P was also made a brand ambassador for Olympic milk, produced by Nutricima limited. [19] Peter founded a reality TV show named Dance with Peter which was sponsored by Globacom Telecommunication Limited. [20] In August 2021, he was unveiled as the brand ambassador of Adidas, a manufacturing company that deals with shoes, clothing and accessories. [21]

They were integral to the evolution of the 2000s and 2010s African popular music. Reggie Rockstone is a Ghanaian rapper. He was born in the United Kingdom but lived his early years in Kumasi and Accra. He has been living in Ghana continuously since he pioneered the Hip-Life movement in 1994. He is married to Dr. Zilla Limann, Daughter of Hilla Limann, the only president of the third Republic of Ghana. They have three kids together and have been married since 2001.

<i>Game Over</i> (P-Square album) 2007 studio album by P-Square

Game Over is the third studio album by the Nigerian duo P-Square. It was released on 1 May 2007, through Square Records. Developed as a visual album, nearly all the songs received a music video. P-Square embraced a new musical direction with the desire to assert their full artistic expression. The album's theme incorporates Love, Desire, Betrayal, Regret, Assurance, and Political criticism. Essentially an R&B and pop album, Gameover also covered genres like reggae and hip hop. The album boasts of singles like "No one like you," "Roll it," "Ifunanya," and the lead single "Do Me" - which featured vocals from Waje. The album which sold over 10million copies worldwide, was credited for redefining music videos in the African music industry with the singles "Do Me,” “Temptation remix” and "Roll it". On 1 May 2007, the album was released on iTunes.

The album features guest appearances from T.I., Don Jazzy, Awilo Longomba, Jermaine Jackson and Dave Scott. Its production was handled by Vtek, Charles Duke, Mecca and Oscar. Double Trouble yielded the singles "Alingo", "Personally", "Testimony", "Ejeajo", "Shekini" and "Bring It On".
