Julian Heidrich, better known as simply Julian Le Play, is an Austrian singer-songwriter and radio presenter. He is best known for his 2014 single "Mein Anker" peaking at number 6 on the Austrian Singles Chart. So far he has released three studio albums, Soweit Sonar in 2012, Melodrom in 2014 and Zugvögel in 2016.

"Dragostea Din Tei", also informally known as "Ma Ya Hi" and "The Numa Numa Song" (see § Lyrics), is the most successful single by the Moldovan pop group O-Zone. It received positive reviews from critics and shot to the number one spot on the Eurochart Hot 100, where it remained for 12 weeks between June and early September 2004. It topped the single charts in France, Germany and Austria for over three months, reached three in the United Kingdom and 72 on the US Pop 100. The song became the fourth-best-selling single of the 21st century in France, with 1,170,000 units sold. A popular cover of the song was made by Italian-Romanian pop singer Haiducii, which also charted in many countries, especially Italy and Sweden, where it topped the singles charts. The original song was made notable in the United States by the viral video "Numa Numa" in which Gary Brolsma dances to the song. Another remix "Numa Numa 2" with Dan Balan featuring Marley Waters was posted on YouTube on September 12, 2018.
IAMX is the solo musical project of Chris Corner, formerly of the band Sneaker Pimps. Founded in 2004 in London, it is an independent music project which also focuses on and experiments with visual art. Born in Bonn and raised by a single mother in Berlin, Tempelhof, Ferchichi came in contact with hip-hop through graffiti and his friend and fellow rapper Fler. Ferchichi released his demo, King of KingZ in 2001, which later led him to sign a record label deal with Aggro Berlin. Ferchichi's first official release was Carlo Cokxxx Nutten, released in October 2002, a collobaration with Fler. His first solo release, Vom Bordstein bis zur Skyline (2003) peaked at number 88 in Germany.

Selected to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark, its official release on 18 March 2014 was followed on 21 March by Conchita's first live TV performance of the song, on the ORF show Dancing Stars. "Rise Like a Phoenix" was Austria's second winning entry in the competition, their first being in 1966.
