Muhammad Rafiqul Islam is a retired Bangladesh Army major general and former Director General of Border Guards Bangladesh. [1]
Rafiqul joined the Signals Corps of the Bangladesh Army on 30 November 1976. He served in the Military Operation Directorate as its GSO. He was the assistant private secretary to the Chief of Army Staff. From 1993 to 1994 he served as the deputy regional commander of the United Nations Operation in Mozambique. He was the commandant of the Signal Training School and College and served as the commanding officer of two signal battalions.
Rafiqul Islam served as the Director of Signals in the Bangladesh Army Headquarters. He served in the Prime Minister's Office and the Armed Forces Division as the director of operations. He was appointed Director General of Border Guards Bangladesh on 11 May 2011. [2] He presided over the special court no-3 of Border Guards Bangladesh that tried mutineers of the Bangladesh Rifles Mutiny of 2009. [3] He also presided over special court no-7 of the BDR trial. [4] He left the Bangladesh Border Guards on 1 July 2011 and was replaced by Major General Anwar Hussain. On 14 July 2011,he went on leave prior to his retirement. [5]

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is a paramilitary force responsible for the border security of Bangladesh. The BGB is entrusted with the responsibility to defend the 4,427 kilometres (2,751 mi) border of Bangladesh with India and Myanmar. It was formerly known as the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR).
Bangladesh has undergone several changes of government since the Proclamation of Independence in 1971. Between the first recorded uprising in August 1975 and the 2009 Bangladesh Rifles revolt,Bangladesh has been through as many as 29 military coups.
The Bangladesh Rifles revolt was a mutiny staged on 25 and 26 February 2009 in Dhaka by a section of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR),a paramilitary force mainly tasked with guarding the borders of Bangladesh. The rebelling BDR soldiers took over the BDR headquarters in Pilkhana,killing BDR director-general Shakil Ahmed along with 56 other army officers and 17 civilians. They also fired on civilians,held many of their officers and their families hostage,vandalised property and looted valuables. By the second day,unrest had spread to 12 other towns and cities. The mutiny ended as the mutineers surrendered their arms and released the hostages after a series of staged discussions and negotiations with the government.
Pilkhana is a para-military cantonment in Dhaka. It is the headquarters of Border Guard Bangladesh,located to the south of Dhanmondi in Dhaka of Bangladesh.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury is a retired Lieutenant General of the Bangladesh Army and former Director General of the Bangladesh Rifles during the conflicts with Border Security Force of India and skirmishes with Banga Sena group in the Bangladesh–India border. Gulzar Uddin Ahmed,also known as Colonel Gulzar Ahmed,was the founding director of the intelligence wing and also served Additional Director General of Rapid Action Battalion. Deaths along the Bangladesh–India border occur many times a year as result of people attempting to illegally cross into India from Bangladesh,for walking along the border,cross border firing and cattle smuggling. Bangladesh and India share a 4,096 kilometer border. To prevent smuggling and illegal migration from Bangladesh,the Indian Border Security Force exercises its controversial "Shoot-on-sight" policy. Under this policy,the BSF can shoot any person on site with or without cause. A large portion of the victims are cattle traders and farmers with land near the border. Brad Adams,stated that,"Routinely shooting poor,unarmed villagers is not how the world's largest democracy should behave."
Aziz Ahmed SBP (BAR) is a retired Bangladeshi four star general who was the Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Bangladesh Army from 25 June 2018 to 24 June 2021. He was succeeded by General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on 24 June 2021.

After retirement he served as the Chief advisor of Regent Airways,Bangladesh operating in domestic and international routes and the chairman of the board of directors of a financial institute,Bangladesh Industrial Finance Company Limited (BIFC) as well as Vice Chairman of the board of directors of a commercial Bank,Union Bank Limited.
Operation Dal-Bhat was an operation carried out by Bangladesh Rifles to provide grocery items to low income groups in Bangladesh. The operation was carried out during the Caretaker Government of Fakhruddin Ahmed. It was one of the main reasons behind the Bangladesh Rifles Mutiny of 2009. Colonel Mujibul Haque who was killed in the mutiny was in charge of the operation. The mutineers demanded their share of the profits from the operation.

The 2015 Bangladesh–Arakan Army border clash took place between 25 August 2015 and 26 August 2015 in the Bandarban District,near the Bangladesh–Myanmar border,after several insurgents of the Arakan Army attacked members of Border Guards Bangladesh.

Before that he was the general officers commanding of 19th Infantry Division and area commander Ghatail area.
Mohammad Anwar Latif Khan is a retired Bangladesh Army colonel and former sector commander of Border Guard Bangladesh in Rajshahi. He is the former additional director general (operations) at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) an elite multi-service unit of the Bangladesh Police,and oversaw crackdowns on Islamist militants. He has been sanctioned by the United States for his activities in RAB. He had previously commanded RAB-5,RAB-7,and RAB-11.
