Mukhtar Ramalan Yero (born 1 May 1968) is a Nigerian politician who served as the governor of Kaduna State from 2012 to 2015,following the death of Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash. [1] [2] He previously served as deputy governor from 2010 to 2012 and as Kaduna State Commissioner of Finance from 2007 to May 2010 when Yakowa named him deputy governor after he succeeded Namadi Sambo who became the vice president of Nigeria.
Mukhtar Ramalan Yero was born on 1 May 1968,in unguwan Kaura in Zaria,Kaduna State. Yero had his early education at LEA Primary School,Kaura from 1974 to 1980;Government Secondary School Ikara from 1980 to 1985;Government Secondary School,Zaria from 1985 to 1986 before obtaining a Diploma in Banking from Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria. He also obtained B.Sc Accounting in 1991 before capping it with Masters in Business Administration. [3]
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA),Yero started his career as Assistant accountant during his National Youth Service Corps at Ogun State Purchasing Corporation between 1991 and 1992. After the service he was employed as Higher Executive Officer Bursary Department at Ahmadu Bello University in 1993 before moving to Nigerian Universal Bank Limited as Accountant Supervisor the same year. In 1997,he joined a private firm,Nalado Nigerian Limited as Chief Accountant and rose in ranks to become Director of Finance and Administration in 2007. [4]
After the election of Namadi Sambo in 2007,he was appointed as the commissioner of Finance from 2007 to May 2010. He was selected by governor Patrick Yakowa to fill the vacant deputy governor seat in 2010. In December 2012,he became the governor of Kaduna State following the death of Yakowa in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa State. [5]
In April 2015,he unsuccessfully ran for re-election,losing to opposition challenger Nasir el-Rufai of the All Progressive Congress. [6]

El-Rufai also served as director of the Bureau of Public Enterprises. He is a founding member of the ruling party All Progressives Congress.
Mohammed Namadi Sambo is a Nigerian politician who served as the vice president of Nigeria from 19 May 2010 to 29 May 2015. He previously served as governor of Kaduna State from 2007 to 2010.

He was appointed deputy governor of Kaduna State in July 2005,following the death of Stephen Shekari and was elected in 2007. He was sworn in as governor on 20 May 2010,replacing Governor Namadi Sambo who had been sworn in as vice president the day before. Yakowa successfully ran for election as Kaduna Governor in the 26 April 2011 polls.

The 2011 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on April 28,2011,after a two-day delay due to security concerns. Of the over five political parties contesting,just two were formidable,the PDP and newly formed CPC. The PDP candidate and incumbent governor,Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa,defeated Haruna Saeed of CPC and 12 others,polling 52.34% of the total valid votes.
The 2015 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on April 11,2015. Nasir el-Rufai of the APC took a clear lead against the incumbent governor and PDP,Mukhtar Ramalan Yero candidate in the election. The APC candidate won in 17 LGAs,while the PDP claimed the other six.
The 2019 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9,2019. APC candidate Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai defeated main opposition party PDP's candidate,Isah Ashiru,to emerge winner of the contest. APC was said to have won 14 LGAs,PDP nine.
The 2023 Kaduna State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Kaduna State,concurrent with elections to the Kaduna State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.

Kaduna Capital Territory Authority (KCTA) is one of the three Kaduna Metropolitan Authorities in Kaduna state,Nigeria. The authority oversees 4 out of 23 local governments in Kaduna state,namely;Kaduna North,Kaduna South,Chikun and Igabi local government areas. In 2021,the law that established Kaduna Capital Territory Authority was passed. Kaduna Capital Territory Authority was formerly called Kaduna Local Government Authority after Kaduna city was made the capital of the state in 1937. The local government authority was a creation of the British colonial rule to oversee taxation,the production of food crops and export to Britain. The authority was first headed by District Head,Aminu Sambo in 1937. The current administrator of Kaduna Capital Territory Authority is Samuel Aruwan.
