Mukhtarbek Aynakulovich Aynakulov (born 13 November 1957) is a Kyrgyz actor, director and politician. He is a current member of the Supreme Council of Kyrgyzstan for the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan.

Early life and education

Aynakulov was born on 13 November 1957 in the village of Sosnovka in Chuy Oblast in the Kirgiz SSR, now Kyrgyzstan. In 1981 he graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, and then in 1983 he graduated from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts with a qualification in acting and directing. [1] [2]

Career

Acting career

He started his career in 1983 at a theatre in the town of Przheval'sk, now known as Karakol. From 2007 until 2014, he worked in various acting studios in Bishkek, such as working as a director in "Studiya-Bishkek" and "PP Service CEZ Biskhek", before working as a leading specialist at "PP Sakchi CEZ Bishkek" for a year until his election. Aynakulov was elected as deputy for the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan in the 2015 parliamentary election. [1] [2]

In May 2017, he was seen campaigning against the presence of independent election observers from overseeing the 2017 presidential election. [3] Aynakulov stated that his reason for supporting such a restriction was "because they are funded by foreign donors and can influence the result of elections". [4]

Sadyr Nurgojoyevich Japarov is a Kyrgyz politician who has served as the president of Kyrgyzstan since 28 January 2021. He had previously served as the acting prime minister of Kyrgyzstan in the 2020 interim government following the resignation of Sooronbay Jeenbekov on 15 October 2020 amidst electoral protests. Japarov also became acting president of Kyrgyzstan after Jeenbekov's resignation but resigned himself on 14 November 2020. On 10 January 2021, Japarov was elected president.

Snap parliamentary elections were held in Kyrgyzstan on 28 November 2021. They followed the annulment of the results of the October 2020 elections and the subsequent protests against the election's conduct. Seven parties passed the 5% threshold and will take up seats in the parliament. Turnout hit a record low at less than 35%.

After a conflict between Atambaev and his successor President Sooronbai Jeenbekov emerged and deepened in 2018, Atambayev accused of Jeenbekov in attempting to seize authority over the SDKP, a party that Atambayev himself formed in 1990s and served as a leader of.

Temirlan Medetbekovich Sultanbekov is a Kyrgyz politician. He is the leader of the opposition party Social Democrats in the Kyrgyz Republic.
