Mummy the Peepshow is an all-girl garage punk/noise punk band from Osaka, Japan. Formed in 1994, they recorded four full-length albums and were featured in many album compilations. In 2000, they performed at the U.S. music festival SXSW as part of Japan Nite. They had been part of Audrey Kimura's Tokyo-based BENTEN Label until they formed their own label, Triangle Records, in 2001. They went on hiatus in 2003 but Maki reformed the band with a new line-up in 2018 and have performed several shows since then. [1]

Lineups

The band has gone through several lineup changes, but has always included founder, lead vocalist and guitarist Maki Mummy (real name Maki Nakamura).

In 1994, the original lineup featured Maki Mummy on guitar and lead vocals, Rising Yuki-San on drums and Natsu Summer on bass.

In 1997, Youngest Aki (Akiko Hosoya) joined the group on lead guitar.

In 1999, Rising Yuki-San married and left the band. I*D*M*U (Mayuko Iida) joined as their drummer.

In 2000, Naru☆Shin (Naru Ishizuka, now a member of Shonen Knife) joined the band, replacing Natsu Summer on bass.

Around 2001 (precise date unknown) Aki left the band.

In 2018, after being on hiatus, the band was reformed with a new line-up, with Akibon on lead guitar, Agya on drums and Yuko on bass.

Video Game Easter Egg

Mummy the Peepshow was featured as an easter egg in the 2005 video game Far Cry Instincts for the Xbox console. Entering a special button combination on the controller in the video game's Map Editor would reveal a special message that says "MtP! Maki! Naru! Mayu! Aki!", [2] referencing the Electric Rollergirl line up of the band.

Rolling Stone has stated that "the Donnas offer a guileless take on adolescent alienation; they traffic in kicks, not catharsis, fun rather than rage". MTV has stated that the band offers "a good old-fashioned rock & roll party". After gathering a cult following in the punk scene since their 1997 debut, the band achieved major label commercial success in the early 2000s and afterward as their music mixed punk, metal and classic rock sounds.

An Cafe Japanese pop rock band

Antic Café was a Japanese pop rock band formed in 2003 and signed to Sony Music Japan. Their visual image is oshare kei, and they describe their music as "Harajuku Dance Rock". The group has released six full-length albums, two compilation albums, and four EPs. On September 1, 2009, the band announced that after their live show on January 4, 2010 at the Nippon Budokan, they would suspend activities and put the group on hiatus, however they stated they will not disband. In 2012, after a two-year break, the team announced the resumption of activities. In June 2018, the band announced the departure of all members but Miku and a hiatus beginning in January 2019.

The Mummies American garage punk band

The Mummies are an American garage punk band formed in San Bruno, California, in 1988. Exhibiting a defiantly raw and lo-fi sound, dubbed "budget rock", the Mummies' rebellious attitude and distinctive performance costumes exerted a major influence on garage punk and garage rock revival acts later in the decade, as well as in the 1990s. Their recorded output was intentionally completed with poor, cheap equipment, including their first and only studio album Never Been Caught, which was released after the group's initial break-up. Since then, the Mummies have engaged in several positively-received reunion concerts and tours, including appearances in Europe and the US sporadically through to recent years. The band is currently working on a movie.

TsuShiMaMiRe

TsuShiMaMiRe is an all-girl Japanese rock trio. Their style is eclectic punk rock, mixing noisy and pop instrumental sounds with idiosyncratic, quirky, often funny or disturbing lyrics. They are one of the many bands to have become famous in the United States through the Austin, Texas South by Southwest music festival, and also through their performances at anime conventions, with the Suicide Girls, and at Benten Label's "Japan Girls Nite" U.S. tours.

Live at the Ventura Theater is a live music DVD by the band Something Corporate. It was recorded on May 20, 2004 at the Ventura Theater in Ventura, California after the release of their third album North and included songs from all three of their albums, including their label debut Leaving Through the Window and their independently released debut Ready... Break. This was the last release by the band before their hiatus, brought on primarily due to lead singer Andrew McMahon's side project Jack's Mannequin, as well as his subsequent diagnosis with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Zombie Ghost Train were an Australian psychobilly and gothabilly band located in Sydney, NSW, Australia. The band formed with Stu Arkoff, Azzy T (drums), and Captain Reckless. In 2007, Azzy T left to pursue other musical ventures and was replaced by JM until 2008. The band released two albums, Glad Rags & Body Bags and Dealing the Death Card, and a seven-track extended play, Monster Formal Wear (2003).

Rosaline was a six-piece post-hardcore band from Chicago, Illinois that formed in 2005. The group modeled their sound from early 2000s post-hardcore groups, citing influences from Thursday, Underoath, Hopesfall, Taking Back Sunday and The Bled. Over the span of their career Rosaline released three albums on various independent record labels.

Rux

Rux is an influential street punk band from South Korea. They formed in 1996 and released their first recording in 1999. Lead vocalist Won Jong-hee, the only remaining original member, also ran Skunk Label and owned the punk music venue Skunk Hell. They gained notoriety in 2005 when friends of the band undressed on stage during the live nationwide broadcast of an episode of MBC concert show Music Camp.

Libido Blume

Libido Blume were a post punk/new wave band from Athens, Greece. They were part of the blooming Athenian Underground Rock scene of the 80s and 90s. The band was founded out of the ashes of Akis Boyatzis' Cpt.Nefos, by Akis Boyatzis,Dimitirs Bouroussas and Yiannis Drenoyiannis in 1985. Later on joined the band Tasos Katsaris.

Sweet Candy Power is a studio album by the Japanese pop-punk band Shonen Knife, released in June 2019. It features guest appearances by former band members Ritsuko Taneda and Naru Ishizuka.
